Le Pliage short handles or sell for long handle crossbody?

I was kindly gifted a Le Pliage small bag with short handles for Christmas but it's sat unused as I've been reluctant to use it as I'm more of a crossbody bag person. Are the short handles convenient or should I perhaps be mercenary and sell and use the money to buy a long handled Le Pliage instead? I have 2 preschoolers so the hands free aspect of a crossbody is really helpful, but I'm going on holiday soon and was thinking of bringing the Le Pliage as a holiday evening and shopping bag. Any advice?

I actually find the small pliage quite handy on holiday when you go to the beach with the big bag filled with towels, books, suncream, … the bag goes in the big bag, but when we go for a walk , an ice-cream or sunset drinks, I just grab the pliage.
I am a cross body lover and have many, but this one, is perfect as a side bag or in the evening for purse, phone and tissues. It fits more however that is the point. It is my bag.

You can buy straps that clip on and use it as a cross body bag. I boight some on amazon that match perfectly and feel very secure.

I was going to suggest a strap. I have a few Le Pliages but only one small and it's a Neo with a long strap as well as 2 grab handles.
