Colouring my hair

my hair drives me crackers. The grey roots start to come through within about 4 weeks and so I’m having to get them dyed every 6 weeks at a push. I’m wondering about starting to do it myself to save a bit of money. Does anybody else regularly dye their own hair? I’m just after tips to keep it in good condition really. Thank you.

I’ve done my own for years. My favourite is Josh Wood (not the cheapest but really good). Don’t use the bottle applicator it comes with to apply but a brush. Mine is a cheaply that came as a set with a bowl from Savers. And an old dressing gown or similar is much easier than trying to keep a towel around your shoulders

Oh yes a brush and bowl is a good tip. Do you do yous quite regularly? I’ll have a look at the brand you have suggested thanks. I’m sure it will be cheaper than £60 every 6 weeks.

Been dying it for over twenty years myself using Garnier nutrisse. My hairdresser says it's in good condition. The white ones do come through quickly still but it is obviously a lot cheaper.

I'm similar but have used casting colours for years. Its a semi, so is supposed to wash out after I think 24 washes, but I'd never go that long before dying it again. I tried a permanent colour years ago and hated the harsh line as it grew out.

I use a colour several shades lighter than I want, because they do come out dark. I'm colouring every month at home and am likely 50% grey now. I've never grown it out so not sure, but definite grey regrowth after a few weeks! I WFT Mon-Fri and just can't stand sitting in a salon for half my weekend to have a colour done.
