Pale trousers always look shit on me (short, slim but pear-shaped) Why and solutions?

I really would like a nice pair of cream or white trousers this summer but whenever I try them on they look bloody awful. I'm 5ft2, slim with a smallish waist but biggish hips. Size 6 on top, 8 bottoms.

Why and any solutions please? Any suggested styles would be especially good. Does thicker fabric or linen sit better perhaps?

Thicker denim is better and wearing a lighter coloured top if you don’t want to emphasise the pear!

Any other fabrics as denim won't be smart enough.

At the age of 59 I’ve come to the conclusion that certain clothing styles and colours just don’t suit me. The latest trend of wide leg jeans look great on the majority, but not me. Wear what suits you, I tried on at least 20 pairs of these trousers, gutted, but have had to admit defeat, 🤷‍♀️

Stone bottoms, cream top or khaki bottoms, white top to minimise.

Me too. These wide trousers are really unfair for shorter women!!!! Wish the trend would move on.

I disagree with pale top.
Navy or black top with pale bottoms and pale (open) cardi draws the eye in and slims down your middle.
I look awful in all pale but the above combo works wonders for my pear shape

You don't have to wear wide-leg trousers. I wear chinos in the summer - I don't care if I'm not on trend because they are comfortable and suit me.

I'm shortish, not long legged, and an inverted triangle.

If you are pear-shaped, you will tend to look slim because of the top half being smaller than the bottom half.

Oh I agree. I don't wear them. But it does limit what one can buy as 80 per cent of trousers in the shops seem massive!
