Laura Geller - how to pick correct shade

I want to give Laura Geller a try but I'm terrible at knowing which foundation shade to pick.

Any tips?

It's putting me off ordering as I'm worried I'll get it wrong. I think I'm either a light or a medium but without being able to try it I'm just not sure

Maybe it from qvc and return if not the right shade? Or look on LG own website to see who they have matched for each shade

Scottsquare · 19/03/2026 22:18

You could try the website called findafion

donotmissyourchancetoblow · 19/03/2026 22:21

There are a couple of shade match websites. Findation and Temptalia Laura geller may be on there.

I struggled to find a good match with Laura geller. It was either too pale or too orange.
QVC would be my choice, you can try it and if it’s no good send it back

Giftpawslab · 19/03/2026 22:27

Thanks all. I didn't know that about QVC!

I'll also look at the matching sites.

I even failed to get my match right with Il Makiage so I'm not holding out hope that I'll be able to work it out 🙈

I prefer to go into a store and have someone do it for me but I'm not sure Laura Geller are in any stores?

I've attached pics of my face and the examples shown on the Laura Geller website. I think medium is too dark bit not sure between fair and light

I have tried the Laura Geller powder foundation in porcelain and it was very pale. Next I tried the same foundation in fair and that was a bit too dark. I really need a shade that’s in the middle. A Goldilocks shade if you will!

I’d definitely recommend just buying the one product to start, I haven’t had spots in a decade or two, one evening in this and I was at risk of being id’d at the bar due to the teenage acne!

tried it again after a month, same result.

I was between two shades so I went with the lightest which proved a good decision. Its perfect. I didn't go for the 'full coverage' though, as I thought it would look heavy.

tedibear · 20/03/2026 02:06

I’m similar colouring to you. I wear light but also have medium for summer when I have more colour. I currently wear the full coverage powder foundation (isn’t full coverage but is lovely) but also have the baked one. I use that more as a bronzer.

Hello. First, figure out your undertone. Look at the veins on your inner wrist in natural light, blue or purple veins suggest cool undertones, green suggests warm, and a mix of both means you're likely neutral. That alone eliminates a lot of the guesswork! For the light versus medium question, a good rule of thumb is to match your foundation to your neck rather than your face since your face is often slightly different in tone, and whatever shade disappears into your neck skin in natural light is your match. If you're ordering online, it's also worth checking if they have a shade finder tool or reading reviews from people who describe their skin similarly to yours.

I did order the wrong shade of bronzer from LG and I requested to return it and swap it for a different shade - they just sent me the other shade for free, and didn't want the return.

They seem to have 65% off this weekend.
