Laser hair removal on delicate area (anus) post HRT.

I am on HRT which is great. Side effect of testogel is hair growth. Fine, can laser it off- my nice facial therapist also offers hair removal so is redoing my legs and bikini.

But I have a thriving bum beard also. Is this something I can ask a laser clinic to do (I will NOT be asking lovely facialist to look at my bum).

I had planned on electrolysis but this is painful even on upper thighs. Laser hurts less, but does it work on those kind of areas? I am Mediterranean colouring and the hair is likely dark brown/black. Lasering has previously worked well on my bikini line but that is normal skin and I know anal skin likely darker- I haven’t had courage to actually look at it all yet.

name changed because it’s a mortifying question. Grateful for any advice as I really don’t want to call up a clinic and have to give all my details to perky 20 something and then be rejected in horror. Electrolysis woman says she will do it if need be but this is very much my plan B.

I've had laser on that area and it didn't hurt at all and was very effective. Don't be embarrassed, as long as you are nice and clean (I'm sure you are) its just a straightforward job to the person doing it and they will make you feel at ease as much as possible. Apparently bottom/perianal area is much easier than labia - for them, for you and for the results!

Oh that is super reassuring, I really appreciate it. Yes, I am one of those people who showers madly before any appointment and fresh clothes so clean bum, but it’s still a bum.

I’ve never had laser, but last time I got a bikini wax she offered to do it because she said it looked neglected lol. It was absolutely fine and didn’t hurt any more than a usual bikini wax. Once you get over the embarrassment of someone getting up close and personal with your bum it’s absolutely fine so I would recommend waxing if you’re not sure on laser.

If I can’t find laser I’ll go for waxing then. Thank you. Just have utter fear of ingrowns there. This is not a glamourous area of self maintenance!

No I know and I get that. I wasn’t even aware I grew hair there until the beautician where I get waxed pointed it out. I can’t say I spend a lot of time checking myself out there 😂😂😂

Yes exactly, not somewhere you tend to think about. It’s just if I am run over or something. Have visions of being mortified in the hospital if I have to bare my hairy bum. Possibly overthinking this

I can’t comment on laser either. But likewise l do have monthly Hollywood waxes, including my bum. As mentioned up thread, it’s just a case of being clean.

Could you get one of the at home lasers and do it yourself?! Might look a bit undignified but a ‘friend’ assures me it works really well for such an area…. 😉

We do have a lumea but I looked online and it was very much warning against it. I had visions of melting my bum. Good to hear your “friend” has had success. Thank you.

You need to shave before laser, right? How does one shave their bum area? Asking for a friend of course 😁

If you go down the waxing route, you’ll find the first and maybe second time a little uncomfortable, but not excruciating and better than the dentist. Take a couple of paracetamol beforehand and don’t get “done” just before your period.

The body seems to adjust to it, l don’t bother with my killers any more and chat is similar to the hairdressers! If you find a good beautician stick with her.

My friend told me that it’s easiest to do in the shower you kind of squat down and shave the inside of the bum cheeks. Usually easiest after shaving you fanjo according to my friend of course 😜
