Scuba divers/snorkellers with long hair - please help! Serums/swim caps

Scuba divers/snorkellers with long hair what do you do to protect your hair?
Mine gets so damaged by the mask strap more than anything else.
I have tried buns/various leave in sprays. Coconut oil made everything too slippy/greasy.
Please help if you have found any thing that works.
My hair is mid back and bleached and I am 50 so very dry anyway!
Thank you so much

I use a Decathlon mask for snorkelling - it has a wide elastic fabric strap which is much nicer for my hair than the skinny plastic straps of most masks.

It looks like Decathlon also do dive masks with the same style of strap here although I haven’t checked the tech spec, depth etc.

By the way the Decathlon anti fog spray is brilliant!! Best I’ve tried.

I also have a wide, cover on the back of my mask strap. Lots of styles/colours available.

You can also get scuba hoods. They won't stop your hair getting wet, but will stop it moving around as much. TBH, even on liveaboards where we were doing 3-4 dives a day, I've never noticed my hair to dry out. After the last dive of the day, I wash it and use conditioner. Maybe your hair is already damaged and needs a intensive mask/treatment or a cut?

I haven’t scuba dived for many years, but I did have very dry bleach blonde hair a coupes of years ago that I was trying to protect on holiday.
I bought this Nuxe hair oil. Smells lovely and did the job fairly well.

A silicone swim cap protects your hair much better than anything. It reduces the risk of sunburn on your scalp, holds your hair in place and stops it getting behind the mask and breaking the seal. I didn't realise they weren't standard for everyone!

Firstly, what sort of mask strap do you have?

I have one of the scubapro ones like this <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChsSEwjg6JTqraSTAxXUqP0FHaJ9CtEYACICCAEQOhoCd2Y&ae=1&co=1&ase=2&gclid=CjwKCAjw1N7NBhAoEiwAcPchp1Pl-3p9jXAVO78nRukWX5y0_eA0V1e3ODgkZhN94gMHGchnKEAGrhoCpBQQAvD_BwE&ei=LO-3acqqKcWP7NYPpMG96Ac&cce=2&category=acrcp_v1_34&sig=AOD64_3u9NhGSZW_BDBXvsK090ffRXDyjQ&ctype=5&q=&nis=4&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwjK8I3qraSTAxXFB9sEHaRgD30Qwg8oAHoECAoQDQ&adurl=www.mikesdivestore.com/products/scubapro-comfort-strap%3Fvariant%3D46182849485%26tw_source%3Dgoogle%26tw_adid%3D%26tw_campaign%3D17366405038%26tw_kwdid%3D%26gad_source%3D1%26gad_campaignid%3D17366413666%26gbraid%3D0AAAAADmiWs2Q65mj4qUikDlIGD93NlNdT%26gclid%3DCjwKCAjw1N7NBhAoEiwAcPchp1Pl-3p9jXAVO78nRukWX5y0_eA0V1e3ODgkZhN94gMHGchnKEAGrhoCpBQQAvD_BwE" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Mask strap and never have any issues, just have a low ponytail in.
My buddy does her hair in plaits to stop damage.
My daughter tends to do a low ponytail too.

Scubapro Mask Comfort Strap

The Scubapro Mask Comfort Strap is an excellent upgrade to your diving or snorkelling mask. It is similar to a ski goggle strap, is very comfortable, stretchy, decreases hair-pull and attaches easily to a variety of Scubapro mask models. The strap fits...

@7238SM my hair is very dry and damaged but it's my trademark look and isn't going anywhere 😂

I use literally any mask I find or have lying around. I will look at getting one with a better strap before I go -thanks

I have never worn a swim cap with a dive mask and was worried it would slip off, but will experiment.

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
