Using up a stash

I am trying to save money and to stop spending money on beauty products I don’t need.

But I have amassed (wasted money on) a lot of shampoos, conditioners, hair products, body lotion and make up.

How do you use up an excess of products? Just use one up and then move to the next? Or just dip into them as you fancy until they finish? I just want them gone and only have a couple of choices going forward but it is going to take an age to get rid of them.

Lots of just used once or twice products.

If you aren't going to use them, offer them on freecycle. Someone might like to try it.

If you have a teenager simply point to whatever you want to use up and tell them it is very expensive and to use sparingly.

Try to use them up and not open new ones

Face creams - keep the very good stuff for your face, the lesser items for neck and décolleté and as a hand cream.

Conditioner - use it like a mask. Dump on hair and leave for 30 mins

I relegate my least favourite makeup to a toilet bag that goes in my work bag.

Miniatures/ samples - keep for holidays and nights away so you can plough through them.

Put a few things into a small bag in your car. Down time waiting around racks up. Do your nails, bit of an eye cream treatment, lip salve your lips.

Small bag at work. When I fancy a bit of down time I’ll moisturise my hands and cuticles.

Use shampoo as hand wash or body wash
