H&M wide legged joggers as an alternative to jeans?

HellybellyMelly · 14/03/2026 22:22

Hi, does anyone have these? Im looking for a casual school run outfit. I wear flared leggings but they are very unforgiving over my bum. Are these very thick/stylish or would I look like im wearing pyjamas!

I dont think you put a link up.

NorthboundEcho · 15/03/2026 02:33

I have these, they are fab for the money, but the qualiity is hit and miss. Khaki pair and burgundy pair still look good, but dark brown pair starting to bobble a bit and a small hole by the seam after a couple of months. BUT yes, they are £14.99, so...

They seem to be selling two different batches that aren't differentiated. The batch I have is the original, more numerous in colour choice one and these would probably not suit a taller person. I am 5'2" and was shocked to find that they didn't need taking up. I also like that they are wide but not too wide, just right. The other batch seems to be a later one and much longer in length

@NorthboundEcho are they thick material or linen types? My bum isnt huge but I carry my weight on my stomach so id like something with a bit of support.

@Gettingbysomehow I have similar to this in wide leg but wanted something a bit plainer

I completely agree with this. I've been buying these for a couple of years. DD has about half a dozen pairs of the black ones and they have varied in thickness and quality. I have them in burgundy, green, slate grey and pink. I did have the brown ones but chucked them in the charity bag as they went bobbly quite quickly.

I still love them though and try to buy when there's a 15% off deal going on. I also sometimes pick odd colours up in the sale or on vinted. Great value for money.

I'm 5ft 4 and the length is also perfect for me. I find them really flattering and comfy.

TealNewt · 15/03/2026 07:46

I bought the burgundy ones to go with my white and burgundy trainers. Loved them so went back and bought a dark green pair. Agree that the quality control isn't the best, one pair is a bit shorter think they shrink a bit on the wash). Great joggers though, I even wore mine to work which I wouldn't normally wear joggers. H&m are good with returns if you don't like the them, worth a try!

aussiechick01 · 15/03/2026 08:02

These are good from Uniqlo as they have a sewn in seam at the front making them look a bit smarter. Thick jersey and drape well.

I haven’t. I have a tummy. Have you tried Spanx? They’re really good for hiding lumps and bumps.

DollyTots · 15/03/2026 08:49

I really like my H&M joggers, I’ve got the burgundy although unlike another poster they were way too long. I’m 5ft4 but finding that with most brands at the moment..petite is too short and regular too long! I just had them taken up.

IfalldownbutIgetupagain · 15/03/2026 10:58

Sainsbury’s sell a really thick version of these which have lasted me well. I wear them daily as part of my work uniform. They are much better quality than the M&S ones I had before but do shrink if you put them in the dryer.

Iggi999 · 15/03/2026 11:41

It says this model is 5ft 9 - and they are so long on her!

Primark also do similar ones - my young adult dds have some. I live in straight legged joggers; I got loads of pairs from Matalan for about £7 each! They've been washed and tumbled dried countless times...no fading, shrinking or bobbling. They're really flattering and smart enough to wear for work.

fiorentina · 15/03/2026 13:13

My teen wears those H&M ones you linked and they are reasonable quality.

I wear Adidas side stripe straight ones with a fine knit jumper to feel smart casual for WFH sometimes.

Yeah that's why I mentioned that there are two or more different batches, so buyer beware! Mine were definitely short. Be good if they said which was which, but I don't think there's much consistency

I've got a pair from primark, only £7 and my children (9,12 and 14) wear them to. They are quite thick and warm, I love wearing them

fruitbrewhaha · 15/03/2026 15:03

I own three pairs of very thick and cozy thermal Uniqlo sweatpants. They are warm and comfortable. I don’t however leave the house in them except for dog walks in the rain.

Im a big believer in being warm and comfy but the trousers you’re looking at look good on the athletic tall models with a lot of styling but on your average Jo, after a few washes, look pretty shit.

I have some nice ones from Primark too. Some cosy, warm black ones, a light blue and a chocolate brown pair. They are a brilliant length too as they just hit the ground (I'm 5'5) so I just flip the waistband over if I'm wearing flatter shoes and they're off the ground!

I saw the Sainsbo ones on Friday and they are really lovely. BUT they were too short for me - I'm 5'6 but I think I'm longer in the leg and shorter in the body as anything other than a L (length) in trousers/leggings just isn't long enough. Gutted as the green ones were fab and such a bargain.

Yes, I have them in grey, very comfy. Warm enough although obvs flapping round ankles. I am large of belly and find them quite flattering. They have started to pill slightly after a dozen wears though.

BelleEpoque27 · 15/03/2026 19:36

Can someone link the Sainsbury's ones please? They sound just what I'm after, and Sainsbury's trousers usually fit me well.

Peabody25 · 15/03/2026 21:15

I’ve got a nearly 13 year old, so slightly younger but he’ll wear loose fit jeans, tshirt and hoodie, H&M cargo joggers and hoodies, loves Nike hoodies and T-shirts and I’ll also get hoodies and T-shirts from M&S or next. Only wears Nike trainers, not keen on other brands but also has wide feet so they’re the best fitting. Get a lot of Nike stuff from Vinted.

Not really into any other brands or much shopping at the moment although he will browse jd sports and the Nike shop so other than that I tend to pick things out and see if he likes them.
