Smart casual comfortable trousers that travel well?

Looking for smartish casual-ish trousers which are comfortable enough for travel but could be dressed up a bit smarter too. I'm thinking possibly a pleated front? Elasticated waist for the comfort bit, and decent fabric which won't go baggy and shapeless after an hour. My best kind of jeans fit is girlfriend, eg fatface Chesham, where they skim the line but aren't tight and I generally have a turn up at the ankle. I've worn tapered in the past but something feels slightly off now, I'm not sure why, I'm not so bothered about fashion, more a cut that sits right. I'd rather keep it to under £50. I'd like a couple of pairs I could maybe wear for work or travel. Smart casual. Does anyone have any suggestions from say tu or new look or m and s or similar? TIA.

Over budget but in case it helps anyone else, I got some great ones from Hush recently - they are cotton barrel leg, but it’s a very gentle barrel, not exaggerated at all. Elasticated waist but they do have a button and zip so you can tuck. I wore mine on a long train journey last week and they looked perfect at the other end. I got the black and wore them with a white tucked in t-shirt, tan mohair cardi from Cos, and leopard print Adidas Sambas, but I think you could wear them more “smart” if you wanted.

The Uniqlo jersey barrel leg trouser. Really comfy, wash well without ironing, travel welll, come in a range of (dull) colours, and remarkably dog hair resistant. Cost £35. Wore to a work conference recently and was really quite impressed.

For Mother’s Day my partner bought me light weight wide leg trousers from Reiss. They have a part elasticated waist and are fabulous. Way over your price range, but go on Vinted and you will easily find beautiful clothes at that price.

Thank you, the m and s look great for work I may try them on. It's hard to work out what I want. I really don't think a barrel leg would work on me. But a slight looseness without being fully wide, maybe tapered with bare ankles. It's really hard to say, I live in jeans most of the year.

Hmm, slightly tapered but not too narrow at the ankle. Maybe the narrowness feels dated. I just can't be swamped in fabric.

Something like this? (Which I found through searching for soft classic trousers).
Not clingy, very straight, slightly roomy but follows shape. Pleats or slight tailoring is good. Any ideas?

Apologies for the ridiculous link.

These are very flattering. I'm a short size 12 but felt taller and slimmer in these!
Elasticated waist but not in the way you think, so super comfortable too.

I second these. They feel really comfortable on me, a 5' 7" size 14. I have 2 pairs. They can be dressed up or down.

Thanks, they look great for work, I'm thinking the fabric might be more of an office smart type? I'm thinking something more casual for everyday or walking on all the city breaks I dream of...😁 being able to wear with trainers or sandals.

I think I want some linen barrel leg trousers that aren't wildly voluminous, are ankle baring and just look relaxed with overwhelming my frame. I got some wide leg palazzo type pants and they are just too much, I need it to have a bit more shape or I just look like a square!
How do I search for barrel legs that aren't too wide?
