I'm 60, size 14 top and 12 bottom, 5 foot 3. I still get the occasional hot flush so usually wear layers so I can strip down. I'd really like a tracksuit but I feel too old. (Not saying ppl at 60 are too old for trackies but just I'm not sure I'd feel confident) Flight is 5.45 am so will be cold. Flight time approx 4 hrs. I want comfortable (most important!) but stylish, layered, wearable with trainers, not too wide in the leg. Pockets preferred. Any ideas?

No link but there are some lovely tracksuit -like but elevated in material like cashmere, so more of a sweater knit than fleece, but with the same comfort.
Im travelling long haul in a couple week and will be wearing jersey trousers with elastic waist, tank top, satin blouse (doesn’t wrinkle) with a long cardi which I’ll take off while flying.

Cooooold · 11/03/2026 21:45

Yes to satin blouse! Thats a great idea I would not have thought of, thanks😊

Uniqulo does a lot of what I would call elevated casual wear. So it’s soft fabrics but slightly tailored or not just a slubby jogger.

I would wear their
jersey barrel leg trousers
white t
navy crew neck sweater over the top
big big bag with a big big scarf in it, or a sarong depending on your destination
comfy trainers.

Cooooold · 11/03/2026 22:01

Big scarf/wrap, yes! I'm so glad i asked for help, I just wouldnt have thought of that bit its so obvious!

Im travelling in May. Dsis who lives in eastern europe says it might be freezing or fairly warm you cant tell. Ill be wearing a three quarter length teashirt under my lovely bsukjen cream jumper with my grey skechers go walk bootcut trousers, elasticated and stretchy with trainer boots.
I also have a wool baukjen blazer if its cold the other end.
Im 64. Everything is stretchy and no iron but smart so hopefully I'll still look good at the other end.

Cooooold · 12/03/2026 06:57

Had never heard of baukjen, their stuff is lovely!

I’d try some trousers from Saint & Sofia, their Apartment pants are great. They are a stretchy cotton jersey, straight leg and with pockets and come in different lengths.
I’ve also got some jersey cargo trousers which are elasticated at the ankle, so they are perfect for going to the loo when you don’t want hems draping on the floor. I got mine from Live Unlimited a few years ago, don’t know if they still stock them, but I think Next do something similar.
Then I’d wear a T-shirt, with either a sweatshirt or thin cashmere jumper, and a big scarf, not a woolly one but something that folds up small, and then a jacket over the top, puffa if going somewhere cold, or chore or bomber jacket for somewhere warmer.

CosyBungalow · 12/03/2026 09:06

I wear a jumpsuit from Boody - yes, I am capable of keeping the legs off the floor in the loo on the plane - and either my denim jacket, or chunky Passenger cardigan, depending on the times of the flight...usually land back in the UK in tge early hours, so my cardigan is great for those times... with trainers.
I'm 57

Yes its lovely. Im a 12 but always buy a 10 there. They tend to come up big. Ive loved everything Ive bought there. I usually buy in the sales.

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 12/03/2026 16:09

Varley. Or sweaty Betty yoga pants.

StylishAndBeautiful · 12/03/2026 16:38

Baukjen is good, @Cooooold , but their clothes tend to be a bit long compared with say Uniqlo.
I haven't bought from them for some time so it might have changed.
Check the Details before ordering.

Muji is good.

£45 for a plain t shirt? Think I’d look in M&S

I get t-shirts from Uniqlo.

pokemoan · 12/03/2026 17:11

I often wear jogging bottoms but with a wool
or cashmere jumper so I’m comfy but not in a matching tracksuit.

Or you could wear a fleece, I need layers as I get cold.

Adidas trousers are good alternatives to traditional joggers

LouisaMayAlcott · 12/03/2026 19:33

On planes I like to wear Boden harem trousers with a cuffed ankle. They’re lovely and loose around the waist. I wear a long tee shirt and then a jumper (or hoody) with a big cashmere scarf.

minnowonthesay · 12/03/2026 20:48

I usually travel in magic pants, a t shirt or vest top, trainers, then a sweat shirt style coat. Scarf too!

I travel for work fairly regularly to Singapore. A patterned teeshirt dress (no elastic round the waist) and a cardigan are my go tos for comfort. Patterned because l’m great at getting the dreaded food blobs when flying 😀. The cardigan you can easily slip off or on during the flight.

I was just coming to suggest Varley! I have a tracksuit that it so soft and comfortable. I don’t leave the house in it but it’s the perfect WFH when I’m not going out attire.
I always fly in SB leggings, a vest and a couple of layers over the top which can be removed - I never do, I’m always cold! We flew to the Caribbean from the U.K. in cold dreary December and I didnt take anything off until we stepped into our hotel
room at the either end - everything was air conditioned except the walk from the terminal to the car which dropped us at the door or our air conditioned hotel - wasn’t really anywhere to feel hot tbh!

Cooooold · 14/03/2026 16:17

Thank you all, i have ordered a lovely soft part cashmere big scarf and a couple pairs pants, see what they are like when they arrive 😊
