I need a new hairstyle but what should I choose?

I have a loooooong, thin face with reasonably good cheekbones, nice big eyes and a big nose (don't I sound gorgeous) and quite a high forehead. I have thick, straight hair - hairdressers tend to describe it as 'heavy' - which is naturally a bit mousy these days so I dye it back to the honey blonde it used to be. It grows very, very fast and needs cutting at least every 6 weeks. I am crap with hair.

My current hairstyle is shoulder length with a fringe, layers at the bottom and some bits chopped out at the front to soften it. I have had the same style for 4 years now and whilst it does suit me, I am really bored with it now.

Any suggestions?

So is this literally the only hairstyle I can have, ever, without looking like I should have a bag over my head?

or a mullet

brimfull · 17/06/2008 16:10

sorry this is one I found for you

TheProvincialLady · 17/06/2008 18:02

Yeah cheers, the mullet is really me!

I quite like some of the ideas on your second link but I know that with some of them I would not manage the upkeep. I wish I wasn't so crap with hair - did I miss the lesson everyone else got aged 13?

graduated bob?

FeelingEvil · 17/06/2008 18:37

I'd go for a dead short boyish bob.
wish I had a thick head of hair like yours.

Furball · 17/06/2008 18:38

something like this but with a fringe or half a fringe

Furball · 17/06/2008 18:45

this?

TheProvincialLady · 18/06/2008 13:08

Good ideas, cheers. I might buy a hair magazine this weekend and make a final decision next week (eek).

Feelingevil having thick hair does have its benefits, but I am pg at the moment and getting more hair for the next 6 months is not a happy prospect [burning bush emoticon]
