Vest tops, a challenge

Why is this so hard?! I don’t want thin straps, below my bum, clingy Lycra, swing style, flouncy bits, see through or that you can’t get a bra under
what I want is the one I had from long tall sally years ago but I’ve bought them all from eBay and now no more Sad

what I do want is a long length (I’m 5ft 10), v neck, draped vest for with shorts/skirt/jeans and comes in a size 18 as I have huge boobs

attached a photo of my fave, it’s fitted but not Matalan long type clingy

tried and rejected this as it’s too short and too swingy

I’ve just let them go. Ok I’m 59 and im
a size 10 but the whole lot of them are unflattering.. I’ve just bought some nice t shirts and different summer tops .

OliviaBonas · 11/03/2026 22:01

I’ve also been looking for this for several years with no success.

TeflonMom · 11/03/2026 22:05

M&S have ones in a mica modal fabric. I got a decent one from Gap recently too

I’ve also been looking for this for several years with no success.

I promise to report back if I find anything vaguely suitable!

I know Sad I’m going to try it anyway

I looked at my 2 fave ones and they’re 95% viscose and 5% elastane so I’m looking for similar

I got some decent longline vests last year from Freemans. Can't find them now, but - www.freemans.com/products/long-tall-sally-cotton-longline-vest-top/_/A-95G913_8

Isometimeswonder · 12/03/2026 10:43

I'm also in search of vests... I want drapey but not baggy under the arms. Shouldn't be as difficult as it is!

persisted · 12/03/2026 10:56

Try Hush, I have a v neck one from a couple of years ago that's great.

ponyinmypocket · 12/03/2026 11:33

I get mine from New Look
V-neck vest top has the best search results

I got a good one from M&S last year. It was thick strapped, about hip length with a scoop neckline and ribbed. It was about £6 and I wore it loads. I also like the Next ones. They're called thick strap vest I think but the M&S one is better I'm hoping they do more colours this year

I have some of those. They are really good quality.

Worriedreparents · 12/03/2026 14:44

Try Landsend I think they have viscose ones

catscatsdogs · 12/03/2026 17:32

Ok
next thick strap - too clingy for me but it’s looser than the Matalan extra long vests so might work for some people
LTS stripe… YES!

Lands End have a lot of vest tops with wide straps, some are cotton or cotton/lycra, others are viscose. I usually find the regular length ones are too long on me (I'm 5'3") so might be a better fit for you?

Dublassie · 12/03/2026 22:11

These are amazing https://www.zara.com/ie/en/wide-strap-polyamide-t-shirt-p03905531.html?v1=503420672&v2=2420395.
Had the same issue for years until I found these last summer . Nice colours, the right amount of lycra/ support, wash well . Love them !!!

DawnBreaks · 12/03/2026 22:32

I bought a black vest top from George Asda, a few weeks ago. I bought my normal size 14 but it just felt like shapewear - so tight! I returned it to get a bigger size and ended up with a size 18, just to get a bit of 'looseness' in the fit. The assistant made me laugh when we were sorting the return. She said "Oh yes, you look like a black pudding if its too tight don't you?" 🙄😂😂

keepingitcoolagain · 12/03/2026 22:36

Boody vests are great

StarlightLady · 13/03/2026 06:36

Try Uniqlo.

Your figure is amazing girl! ❤️

I thought the same, what a gorgeous figure you have! Also I like the m and s vest tops, but I imagine that they are made in China, which puts me off!

Sadly, most of what we buy is made in China these days.

Their cotton ones are the only vest tops I have - I’m 5’1” so the petite length works for me in their vests and tops. They’re really good quality cotton, not clingy but not baggy.

catscatsdogs · 13/03/2026 15:36

Yes! I actually looked at that one but not sure if it will be too short
its on my very long list of stuff to order once I’ve done a lot of returns!

I got this one from Amazon last year and love it. It’s a bit too long for me so might work! https://amzn.eu/d/03YJNMAY

(I’m size 12-14 and ordered a medium if that helps with sizing)

Lands End tops usually state the length of a regular size medium in the product description, so it's easier to compare against something that you already own
