M&S jeans? What’s with these sizes?

Hi all, usually an EVA 16 / 18, tried out the mom and boyfriend jeans and could barely get them over my bum let alone zip up. Is there something vastly different between the types?

People on these threads always say M&S have large sizing. I think it must depend on your body type.

I'm 5ft 6. 8 stone 4. Short body and long legs.

I haven't been able to fit into an M&S 8 for years. The jeans are SO high waisted that they fasten in a very weird place on my body - over the wide part of my ribs and nowhere near my waist. I have M&S size 8s from the 2000s that are lower rise and fit perfectly.

I tried on a couple of tops in there the other day and the 10 was unflatteringly clingy. Although that was maybe the fault of the material!

So I agree that the sizing isn't particularly standard or comparable to other shops and would say this isn't always down to vanity sizing!

Another person glad to read this! I bought some washed black jeans from there recently and had to size up which I’ve never had to before in m&s. If anything they would be a bit loose. Assumed it was me!

Weird I have the opposite problem. I always had a size 12 now need a 10 in everything from Marks and my weight hasnt changed. Its exactly the same.

The dying process for black jeans vs blue denim generally makes them fit stiffer and therefore tighter.

I'm sure they've re-worked their sizing. I used to be 14 in their jeans - I could pick up a pair of Sienna without trying them on. Now I have to get size 16. When I compared them side by side - the new 16 was smaller than the old 14.

I sized up in the Eva to s 16. Am 32w 30l in Levi. They fit so much better but I have to use a belt. I think in time they may shrink s bit but the 14 was too tight. Apart from that they're great.

I don’t think it’s just M&S, sizing is terrible in all stores.

i have size 8 Ted Baker pjs, but size 14 knickers from Next.

some stuff I have is a size 10 and yet other clothing is a 14 even from the same shop.

buy some jeans from M&S, think oh yeah I like these so you order more within the same week…

they come and they are not the same fit or the same leg size etc .

i have to buy multiple sizes of everything and return loads of stuff

I'm anywhere between a 12-18 in M&S. I find that even the same style jeans but different colour might not fit me in just one size.

Yes, I have the Eva jeans in mid-blue and dark indigo and the latter are so stiff they can only be worn on days when I haven’t eaten anything more substantial than lettuce.
