Can anyone recommend an LED blue light face mask for a 14 year old with acne?

There are so many and I am very new to all this! Can anyone recommend one which would be safe for a 14 year old to use? She has quite bad acne, we have seen her GP and she's on antibiotics and creams but I've read these can also really help. Thanks x

Would you try skin care first? My friend and her daughter use roc posay effacler and swear by it (not fully gone but hugely improved)

Personally I’ve always been crusty over oily but my cousin has seen good results from the Shark one. Looks a bit freaky when it’s on but the results have been amazing.

After several years of helping daughter with acne-
multiple GP visits - multiple courses of antibiotics, creams, pill, etc
used all the recommended cleansers,
LED face mask
it didn’t improve, and developed into cystic acne
then went private to dermatology
5 month course of roaccutane
finally clear skin,
albeit with the scarring -
GP’s don’t refer on quickly enough if at all to dermatology when they aren’t able to get on top of acne in my experience

An at home LED mask isn’t doing anything. Please save your money!

Spend the money on a dermatologist appt instead

Just get on the roaccutane, via a dermatologist. I honestly think it’s the only thing that really works.

That’s incorrect bI have known them to work. There’s a good article if you google somewhere about the necessary wavelengths / strength.

They stopped the blue light full masks because of risk to eyes - or at least, you now have to wear suitable eye protection with them.

They did soothe my acne a little, I definitely noticed skin loomed a bit happier, but they didn't clear it up & I used it religiously. Agree with everyone else that the money is much spent on a dermatology visit.

I would use Accutane as a last resort. Can have side effects. My daughter has been prescribed Azalaic acid and Retinol. She has Accutane but having read about some of the serious side effects I would be careful. We have delayed taking it until we have tried almost everything else.

Nah. My best friend is a Level 4 CIDESCO. At home units aren’t strong enough to actually do anything.

Side effects for roaccutane are highly exaggerated on social media -
the main guaranteed side effect is very dry skin !

I concur. I was equally concerned when I was referred for it but the dermatologists gave me lots of information to make an informed choice - they also monitor you really closely for the earliest sign of any side effect.
