Do any of you remember me needing help to find a dress for the Summer Ball?

Do any of you remember my thread when I was panicking because I had nothing to wear for a summer ball? Well I finally managed to find something at the weekend - not the original dress I liked - I did try that on but preferred the one below. Its a military ball so quite formal.

Its this dress in the deep red colour:

Now i need to find shoes - I want black satin ones with a bit of a heel, but only a small one - dress needs lifting a little but i am quite tall so dont want to wear very high heels. Can anyone help me find a nice pair?

But, as notyummy said, its all part and parcel of the tradition - if you accept the invitation then you must accept the dress code.

Notyummy i can't imagine how you would be if you were asked to go home and change!

I know, twas a nightmare. TBH, it was nearly as bad having to tell them. I had to tactfully pull them all to one side. I used the tactic that 'I'm really sorry whoever invited you didn't tell you the dress code but.....'

Two of them came back in long frocks. One left for good.

Yes, dont which is worse - having to ask them or having to be asked! I'd die of shame either way .
