Where do you find a SUN HAT that does not make you look like a granny?

I discovered the bliss of a good sun hat last summer (anyone else out there suffering from scalp sunburn??). Problem was, it was my husband's, and I looked like a fool, which was fine as there was no one else around.

This year I'd like to upgrade to a hat of my own but everything on offer is horrible.

Spotted anything nice out there? Would love white/cream with a very wide brim. You know, very Jemima Khan (OK, OK, one's allowed to dream a bit!).

Got a very nice straw wide brim (chocolate brown, but they did straw colour as well) for £15 in John Lewis. I wear it when I want to look elegant in the sun. When its ok to look more casual I wear a great canvas-like one from Uniqlo, which I can squash into my bag when not wearing.

As you can probably tell, I am slightly sun-phobic (so live in the right country, then!) but I have enough wrinkles and freckles already you see.

Thanks! Some cracking tips there, if I get really desperate .
Nice ones in Asos, thanks DSM. Glad to see that you don't have to remortgage in every case!

Do you live anywhere near Greenwich Market? There's a handmade hat stall there with some lovely wide-brimmed hats on it, £20 a pop in various colours - I've got a cream one and a pink one.

I buy a straw cowboy hat each year, much to my 12 year old daughters dismay. But I feel I look rather fetching in it! £3 Primark.
