What to wear to a conference dinner

I say conference dinner... it takes place in the evening on the day before.

Its a supplier led user conference (IT in Education) and i'll have been travelling all afternoon, so i need to be comfortable for my flight... we land, straight to the hotel, dump bags, dinner....

Would jeans, a nice jumper and a smart pair of trainers be ok or am i going to have to go slightly smarter?

I would say that’s a bit too casual.. we have conference dinners and some people are dolled up in heels and dresses and others are more business cats but never jeans and trainers

We have conference dinners and it's very much jeans appropriate as opposed to the above if someone turned up dolled up to the nines it would raise eyebrows so it really depends on your sector, the location etc. Is this annual can you find pictures online of last year? Have colleagues been to this or similar before?

The suppllier is new to us, so no-one from my employer has been before and whilst im told there have been events before, i cannt find any pictures online!

Sector-wise, it's IT for Higher Ed. All ive been told is the dinner is in the same hotel as the conference the following day and im going over on a budget airline so need to pack 2 days clothes and essentials in a small carry on as my employer wont stretch for checked in or slightly larger cabin luggage!

I would put slightly smarter trousers and shoes in top of bag and change when you arrive in hotel. You can do this in the toilets at reception even if your room isn't ready?

Black trousers, loose black top and big jewellery with flats, nice hair, make up and nails can be casual or smart but polished either way

Just wear smarter trousers a blouse and jacket, brogues, no biggie surely.
