Hello
I have just bought a lovely green light tweed fitted short jacket, absolutely love it, what would you wear with it to the office? Can't wear jeans to work!

Knee length black skirt and boots.

Thanks! I thought black skirt but frightened it looks dated

Absolutely anything except a knee-length, box-pleated tweed skirt!

Or even that, if you're good at dressing ironically 😏

Classic answer is a satin or chiffon skirt, btw. Contrasting textures. But all sorts of things contrast pleasingly with tweed.

No I'm not! 50s and have been rather frumpy until lost weight last year!
Have been looking on vinted for some black tailored trousers ?

Deffo not the English teacher skirt, then 😂 Black tailored trousers will look chic. Congrats on the weight loss and enjoy your new style!

[ETA] To bring the look fully up to date, see if you can rustle up some footwear in a similar shade to your jacket.

Short jacket - high waisted wide trousers. In a contrasting fabric.

Nothing at all ‘ladylike’.

I'm retired so can't advise on what's office appropriate but I adore tweed jackets (and coats) and have them in different shapes and lengths. I'd probably wear a short and fitted one with:

Certain wide leg trousers - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, it's hard to say why - sorry - but, as a general rule I'd avoid wearing with very 'officey looking' trousers as it's just not the look I'm after.
Full or A Line midi length skirt e.g. in corduroy or denim if they're allowed in your workplace
Longish, straight midi skirt
Jeans - sorry I know that's not allowed!

I'm also fond of pleated tweed skirts but there's only one that I'd wear with a short, fitted tweed jacket. Again I can't really explain why this particular combination works for me and others don't.

I'm sorry some of this is so vague but most of the time I just look in the mirror and decide whether I like the effect or not, and I really encourage others to do the same. I'm sure I get it wrong sometimes but, if I do, nobody dies.
