Just that really. thought it would be good to have a thread to share ideas and for general inspiration.
I have always struggled with spring summer dressing and need major wardrobe overhaul , so looking for inspiration/ ideas . Want to look fairly current, so was wondering what others were thinking style wise this season.
Beauty wise I need facial and body fake tan options , but any other SS beauty inspiration would be great.

Not much help as I also struggle with spring and summer clothes, but also hoping for inspiration. I struggle with jeans in the winter when it feels too cold for trainers, but other than getting my jeans back out I’m not inspired at all.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/02/2026 15:18

There’s nothing I particularly fancy although I’m looking for some sort of raincoat thing, lightweight.

I’m really looking forward to wearing my leather jackets and trench coat now it’s warming up- I’m sick of the sight of my winter coats.

BangingOn · 22/02/2026 15:39

Good point on leather jackets @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie. You’ve reminded me I bought a gorgeous The Kooples leather jacket from Vinted just as it was getting too cold to wear it, so looking forward to getting lots of wear from that.

Msmfailedusbad · 22/02/2026 18:38

I’m looking forward to being able to pack the winter coats away too, and just wear jackets.
I think I struggle because I typically wear trousers and tops all A/W , and then get a bit lost style wise for S/S when it gets too warm for those. Appreciate some like the linen trousers look , but I don’t think I suit that. Somehow always feel overdressed in dresses, but like them on other people … Hopeful bump for more inspiration .
I have a John Lewis style appointment early spring , so maybe that will help

Think we all struggle because the swathe is so pants and often indistinguishable between the seasons in the UK for probably 10 months of the year. I wear my boots for as long as I can. Can’t remember when I even last bought sandals, much prefer trainers - so looking for interesting inspiration for this year. My top tip for those rare boiling days in the UK (which also doubles up for summer holidays) is buy Vinted / charity shop quality and designer white linen dresses / tops / trousers - always a classic colour and silhouette - can update with coloured accessories. I love my very fancy holiday / hot day collection but couldn’t imagine or afford to have bought each of those pieces new as they are hundreds each.

I am thinking dresses are dead? More wide leg trousers are attracting me this season. Also going for cream trousers as think they look fabulous

I've dropped 5 dress sizes in 20 months and am 2 stone lighter than last summer so I need a complete new wardrobe. I've picked up a few lighter weight long sleeve dresses for spring and a few lightweight tops for work to wear with wide leg trousers on vinted as they'vecome up. I've been caught out before when we've had the odd quite warm day in March and all my spring wardrobe has been stored away in boxes in the loft so I wanted to be prepared.

I've also picked up a couple of pairs of mary jane flats as I need shoes that stay on my feet and fear that trainers are on their way out. I've looked at sneakerina / ballerina trainers but they all just give hotter vibes to me.

I'm struggling for dresses in the main. Everything has bold prints which, even though I am now a size 16 instead of a size 26, still drown me as I am 5ft 2. They all give "Ceebeebies presenter on acid' vibes.

I've just picked up a tan suede jacket on vinted and will look for some cream trousers to pair it with.

The other challenge is that my day job can cover everything from working at home to a photo op on an industrial site to a conference speaker slot - so I need every kind of outfit imaginable!

I'd like a brown suede bag, decent size although probably not a tote. Have idly thought about red flats but might give 80s vibes given how much navy I normally wear. I've just picked up an M&S car coat, BNWT on Vinted for a bargainous £12 so sorted for spring outerwear.

I've got a navy sleeveless linen dress from Jigsaw, a patterned one from Toast, and a khaki dress from Uniqlo. I have various shades of denim and khaki wide leg and barrel trousers. I have some breton tops and some linen blouses. I've got utility jackets in navy, cream, and khaki and a black leather jacket. I've got a few sleeveless knit tops and lots of t shirts. And I have Birkenstock Boston clogs, some brown Ugg sandals and some black fisherman's sandals (I forgot where they're from) and a couple of pairs of mary janes in tan and black. I have some little scarves to brighten things up. So I think I'm all set in terms of basics but I'm not the best at styling things so we'll see how it goes!

I am ready to BURN my winter coats now - per @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie i can’t wait for leather jacket weather!

I’ve bought a few things and tucked them away:

Cos yellow cardigan, and brown barrel leg trousers
Damson Madder navy barrel leg trousers
Ganni t-shirt with a cowboy print on it - I’m going to see CMAT next month so will wear this for her, because I enjoy a theme

I have my eye on the loafer style Birkenstock clogs, and also some wine leather Sambas. My DP say the Birkenstocks look like men’s slippers and while he is no Gok Wan I do kind of see what he means and can’t un-see it.

It’s my birthday this week and I am getting a brown leather bag from Hush, and Le Labo neroli perfume - I think the perfume will be perfect for spring.

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 22/02/2026 22:41

It’s more of a feeling for me - I want to start wearing clothes that make feel happy; rather than just being focused on what is “flattering”. I’ve been obsessed for years with trying to look younger and thinner but I’m 47 now, and actually wtf does it matter? So I’m trying to find more clothes that are comfortable in colors that I love and focus on that instead.

I’ve just bought two outsize mohair jumpers, one in bright yellow and the other in coral; I’ve got my eye on some lovely bright coloured trainers from M&S, and the new Topshop range from John Lewis has some great looking jeans.

TealReader · 22/02/2026 22:44

I want so many things…! I’m trying to be restrained and looking for cheaper options.

After weight loss I do really need some summer clothes so I’m busy on vinted looking for shorts and summer dresses.

What I will get new- a really good white shirt.

Wants but not needs-

  1. Adidas tear away tracksuit pants (nostalgia!)
  2. Tabi shoes
  3. A light coloured tote bag
  4. A Vivienne Westwood Sunday dress
  5. A Kindred of Ireland black beetled shirt.
I won’t be getting all of these!
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/02/2026 22:48

I would kill for a black Sunday dress.
