My wonderful daughter is getting married this year. My DD got married last year and I wore this. Got a lot of compliments.

I think the dress is absolutely lovely! Beautiful colour and great shape.

I always suggest a plain colour for mother of the bride. It looks better in photos. I agree about Karen Millen..l have been looking there for my sons wedding

@PhaedraWas “Jumped in”? Is that just not making a comment? It’s a thread. That’s what people do. I do think the dress is too casual for many weddings but if it’s a casual wedding, then ok. What’s the point of everyone just saying it’s perfect if it’s not for the event? Echo chambers are rarely helpful and it’s not a dress for being an important person at the wedding.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I dislike jump suits - wet loo floors are the killer. Not many around now either. Dated I’m afraid.

Gold shoes? Always gold or silver on mn for weddings. It’s like a uniform of bling. Who really wants look at me shoes as the brides mother? Teal is a difficult colour of course. Blues and even the brown I posted are way easier. Just add creams and pearls!

I hate gold shoes too! Apparently though, I’m not supposed to express any opinions and should just be sitting silently in a corner admiring the nasty jumpsuit. 😂

2 of your suggestions look like office dresses for someone who really doesn't want to be noticed so why you think they are better for "an important person at a wedding" than the OP's own choice is odd.

Thanks everyone for all your input. Definitely food for thought and great to MOTB is not such a big deal. It does feel a bit like poisoned chalice when it comes to expectations. I've officially gone dress blind so I'm going to step away from looking for a bit. I have time so I won't be panicking or rushing in to anything. I really do appreciate a bunch of strangers taking time to offer advise. Appreciate you.

BlackCarrot I am built like you by the sound of things and wore a very similar dress (by Jolie Moi through Next) as a wedding guest last year.

I felt great in it. It was flattering to my shape and as it was a hot day I didn't bother with anything over it. The angel sleeves covered my least favourite bit of my arms!

Go with your gut. I didn't check out all the recommendations but I did notice the Rixo link and had a quick look. Some of those were what I'd also wear to compliment my shape (as a short busty).

Based on that style of dress have you looked at Scarlett and Jo OP?

That dress looks much better in the link. Another poster posted a picture of it which didn't look great but it's much nicer on.

Dress is gorgeous and perfect for a wedding guest but not special enough for MOB.

Ive tried that dress and other variations in that pattern in a Hobbs shop. Unfortunately it does nothing for my figure. My top half doesn't match my bottom half so it doesn't flatter me at all. It is gorgeous though and I'm sure it looks lovely on the right figure.

Any of the other suggestions that you like the look of OP?

I'm having a few days away from looking but will be back on it at the weekend. Appreciate everyone's input.
