We set a record with the last thread. Just 2 weeks from start to finish!!!!

So here's the new one and we're now in double digits.

As always everyone is welcome to join even if you've just been lurking, but like those kids on the back of the school bus your Mum warned you about, we are a bad influence.... 😈

Looks like one of them is up and selling on vinted 🤣 I've had 3 notifications already so people are obviously still buying too.

I have 3 of Medik8, so I've sold one of them and listed another. I probably won't list all 3, as I'd be worried about my order going missing leaving me without 1.

Has anyone tried selling the Huda primer or Dr Levy mask? I went round the house yesterday and collected all the primers I have, and it's a lot 🤣 I couldn't find where I've put my ysl one though which is my fave. Has anyone tried the huda one from gwp before or Vieve or sculpted by AIMEE ones?

That reminds me, @OvaHere i was overall happy with the Patrick ta foundation yesterday. I liked how it blurred pores, provided good coverage, lasted really well, didn't dry out my face or leave it feeling tight. I normally wear primer and setting spray and I didn't use either with it, but it didn't budge at all. I don't know if I'd pay full price for it, it's expensive and I'm just not sure it's wow enough for it. I think I'll try it again today though.

Edited

Yes, I've listed them on ebay. I got a warning from vinted that I was selling too many things commercially, which you can't do on a private account. They won't let you sell beauty stuff on business account however! So I tend to just use vinted now for the stuff I can't shift on Ebay and use it sparingly.
As for primers I swear by the MAC radiance primer. Although if I need something a bit more bronzey in the summer I'd try the HUDA one, it's not the right time of year for me now as I tend to go pale in winter, willingly, I don't suit a bronzey look in the colder months.

Ive sold a few dr levy masks on vinted as they've been in a gwp before. Got around £7 if I recall correctly. X
The notifications do get too much. 😂

Thelifeofawife · 24/02/2026 09:01

Typically I spent £50 in SNK yesterday. Not overly fussed about the GWP but there was a lipgloss I want wanted as well so may be worth me reordering the Betty palette and returning the one from yesterday when it arrives (I presume I can?)

@IDontHateRainbows What warning did you get from Vinted? I’ve sold quite a lot on there, I did have to add my details (NI number and ID) and they have sent me a statement of what I’ve sold, but that’s it - assume this was just so HMRC can come take a chunk off me 😅🫠

Have you tried the Vieve one? I seem to have accumulated quite a few of that one 🤣 I like the ysl one and happy to stick with that (especially as I have quite a few in my stash) I just don't know if to sell the others in my stash so would like to hear anyone's thoughts on them. The ones I'm considering selling are:
Vieve skin nova. I have 4 of these, are they more of an illuminator rather than a primer?
Sculpted By Aimee beauty base primer
Nars light reflecting primer
Huda blur - I might keep this for summer then if it's a bit bronzing too 🥰

I did something similar with the flamingo palette. The day after I bought it, it went into the 20% off sale so I rebought it and returned the other one. They were really slow to process it, but it was within the time they state.

namechange0998776554799000 · 24/02/2026 09:07

I had a SNK basket ready for the GWP but it's mostly tinted lip balms which apparently count as skincare rather than makeup. Just browsed all the makeup on there by category (blusher, eyeshadow etc), sorted by ratings, and was a bit shocked by how I was going 'got that one, got that one, got that one..' 😳

So, no SNK order for me but if anyone really rates any of the contents please tell me and I will look out for them on Vinted 😆

IlovePond · 24/02/2026 09:14

Yes @Thelifeofawife - selling 30+ items OR making £1700+ on eBay/Vinted triggers the requirement to notify HRMC. Unfortunately I think that means you then get asked to fill in a tax self assessment form.

Martin Lewis was miffed about the 30 items limit - he was arguing that someone could sell 30 things and make just £50 and still get landed with a tax self assessment form!

Does anyone know yet if HRMC are actually triggering self assessment forms for 30 items sold but for way below £1700?

I haven’t been asked to do self assessment for years and my pathological hatred of forms means I really don’t want to start now for the sake of the very small amount of money I make on eBay!

My ‘plan’ is to suspend all my eBay listings once I get to 26 sold items just to be on the safe side. I’m also annoyed because I had to cancel one sale this month because eBay bizarrely allowed two people to buy the same item once 🙀 and another one I refunded and then resold as eBay had given the buyer the option to select EVRI in error and, well, just no! Unfortunately these are still counting in my total so that’s annoying!

TragicMuse · 24/02/2026 09:24

Marking myself safe from the SNK GWP! I’ve scratched my itch with the CB Ritual edit!

I enjoy the releases and looking at contents but I think I’m ok for now! Obvs dopamine’s gonna dopamine so who knows what’s coming! I’m quite looking forward to a Liberty edit, hope we get one soon 😉

user593 · 24/02/2026 09:33

Just got this from Liberty. That’s a very high minimum spend!

Agree- I’d have been interested if a lower spend. I would have been swayed to get sone candles (even though I’ve got too many).

JoRaRaRa · 24/02/2026 09:48

@user593 a really high spend 😳 Thankfully I don't love it so I won't be going mad to get it - phew!

psuedocream3 · 24/02/2026 09:51

@IlovePond The threshold for self assessment reporting is £1000 as that's your 'free limit' for tax purposes. I do surveys etc so I'm registered as self assessment anyway but it's very easy to fill out - not complicated at all. If you've sold new products and made under £1000 you don't need to register and declare, but once you get past that it's declared. If you are selling used items and not making a profit then thats not included. My understanding is that they report to HMRC and it gets cross checked across all earning platforms reported, and if you havent declared tax due you get fined and required to fill out self assesment and pay anything due.

Me too. Baaaa ☺️

and me ! ... Talk about FOMO 😂😂

ChicDenimCat · 24/02/2026 09:55

Wow that liberty spend is extortionate and even then the GWP is nothing to write home about, mostly travel sizes and lots of items that we’ve seen before in GWP / beauty drop boxes. What a disappointment!

Thelifeofawife · 24/02/2026 10:14

@IlovePond I assumed that HMRC would contact me if I need to fill out a form, I’ve never done one before. Based on my statements from eBay & Vinted I will need to do one, but I wouldn’t even know how to go about it.
I have sold off quite a lot of beauty stuff, but also a lot of clothes, etc as I was having a big clear out. I’ve spent more than I’ve made, but will they care about that when it comes to items from BACs?
Had I realised this would happen, I’d have staggered my sales rather than doing it all in one year 🙈

Ridiculously high spend. But who knows, we might find loads of this GWP on Vinted now!

LoveLabradors · 24/02/2026 10:22

The Liberty spend is ridiculous. It’s mainly
old bits from beauty drop and previous GWPs too. That mirror was in a beauty drop box. Liberty have just declined so much in quality.
The boots wellness box was such fabulous value that I went to look at ordering a second this morning but it’s gone back up to full price!

ClutteredPalace · 24/02/2026 10:33

If anyone uses the Ouai thick hair shampoo it's £12.73 on Boop Beauty at the moment. I got the wave spray as well just because I love the smell.

wohmum · 24/02/2026 10:37

The fairyflips vinted seller is going great guns this morning on the glow GWP !

Thelifeofawife · 24/02/2026 10:44

@psuedocream3 Thanks for the info, I didn’t notice your post before I added mine. I will need to check back how much I made on new products, I feel I may have gone over 🙈 It wouldn’t happen any other time, only because I was on a mission last year 🫠

TragicMuse · 24/02/2026 10:45

Well I talked that one up! What a badly-considered GWP and min spend!

psuedocream3 · 24/02/2026 10:57

@Thelifeofawife I think the mandatory reporting only started last tax year. Although you have to declare over £1000 earnings, if you aren't over your personal tax allowance of £12,570 for the tax year you wont need to pay tax. I think it's 20% tax over that. Next tax assessment is due end of January 2027 so you have a while to figure it out. Because the tax year starts on 6th April for the previous year so you may not have crossed the thresholds, fingers crossed for you!

On 31 January 2027, taxpayers in the UK will be reporting on the 2025–26 tax year (which ran from 6 April 2025 to 5 April 2026).

BlueLimes · 24/02/2026 12:59

I vaguely remember reading that most people will not have to pay tax on things sold on vinted. I’ll try and find the article.

IlovePond · 24/02/2026 14:11

Ah thanks @psuedocream3 and @keepincool

My extremely limited understanding of it all is that HRMC won’t charge you tax if you are under the allowed limit, (as long as you’re not running a business), but they still want the form filled in if you have sold 30 items +.

I hope they’ve backed down in this - does anyone know?

Here’s the info from eBay:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/account/regulatory/sales-reporting/uk-digital-sales-reporting?id=5454

It looks like eBay ignore cancelled items in the reporting total, but not refunded ones. eBay also count sales from January to December and I have zero idea how this joins up with the April-March tax year 🙀

I remember the self assessment forms I used to do as being very long and a PITA. It’s not that I can’t do them, I just really really hate them. For the sake of £150 or so in sales, I really can’t be bothered.

Sorry for the sidetrack away from beauty chat.
