I don’t quite understand. Have you bought this item - with no idea what it will go with in your existing wardrobe?

Have you already tried it on with everything you have? That’s the best way to make new outfits - using your eyes and instinct and awareness (from regular browsing of fashionable shop sites and maybe SM) of what looks current.

I’m a little worried by your request for colour suggestions. If posters say pink - are you going to click ‘buy now’ on half a dozen pink things? That isn’t how a functional wardrobe works. There isn’t any point to buying something new unless you know it will work with what you already have.

Can you post a link to the bomber jacket? And an idea of your budget - if you’re really going to need new stuff to wear with it.

I get it @Eggybreadwithnuts. I bought a jacket similar to this in a charity shop. It is beautiful, by White Stuff and I would never have been able to afford a brand new one. Got no idea what to wear it with but I will eventually! Thinking over a dress in the spring maybe?

mcmuffin22 · 18/02/2026 09:40

Hi OP, I don't tend to buy navy because I own so much black (although sometimes they go together!) I always think a navy jacket looks really good with mid to light colour denim in the spring so jeans, a denim shirt dress or skirt would look good. White or grey or something cheerier underneath.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/02/2026 09:43

I think almost everything goes with navy! Except maybe black. I don’t know why but I can never bring myself to do black and navy

What a sneery post @MsOtisReflects 🙄

MsOtisReflects · 18/02/2026 10:55

Well, if anyone mistakes ‘perplexed’ for ‘sneery’ I can only blame my 5.am writing style. But perplexed is what I felt.

If the OP posts a link or picture I’ll be very happy to make suggestions.

You weren’t just perplexed (although of course you weren’t really) you were also puzzled. It was the disingenuity of the puzzled perplexity that I found grating. You used both words to berate the op for buying this item without a firm outfit plan in mind, and basically said she was feckless, disorganised and unstylish. But if you want to blame that on 5am brain then fine. 🙄

BitOutOfPractice · 18/02/2026 15:17

What’s your usual style op? Do you plan to wear it for work / weekends / both? Looks like a very useful jacket to me. I have a similar one but It’s a lot thinner and it’s Useful to put under a mac on chilly days like today.

momager22 · 18/02/2026 15:20

@MsOtisReflectsgod I bet you’re fun at parties 🙄

momager22 · 18/02/2026 15:22

Op I’d wear that with some lighter blue barrel jeans, trainers, and a bright accessory like a tomato red beanie.

I think the key is not to wear dark blue jeans with it.

HappyFace2025 · 18/02/2026 15:25

I agree with blue (not dark) jeans and a lemon yellow top or tee shirt.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 18/02/2026 15:25

That’s really nice. I think a pale top underneath like a white tshirt or blouse. Nothing with a pattern is how I’d go, and maybe jeans or navy trousers?

pizzaHeart · 18/02/2026 15:33

I think some posters were unfair to @MsOtisReflects She made some really valid points. Yes, her post was straightforward but it wasn’t rude at all.
By now already @ithinkilikethislittlelife suggested pale top and white skirt which might be good for her but for me it would be a disaster. I would look better wearing it with dark denim jeans and bright orange/ coral top.

Things like style, colouring, occasion do matter.

MsOtisReflects · 18/02/2026 15:55

I resolved this NY to rise above anonymous attacks on the Internet. So I will.

@Eggybreadwithnuts - do you have a grey crewneck jumper? And some dark jeans? That’s an outfit. Or … If you want something dressier, the same top with a navy frou frou skirt and some ridiculously pointy black kitten heeled, knee high boots. (I got some from H&M.)

Navy does ^go* with lots of colours, but a fairly severe, tonal palette will look most February 2026.

Please, please experiment with what you already have, first, though.

Eggybreadwithnuts · 18/02/2026 16:22

First instance it's for a travel down to London...

Want to go with trainers...Ive got some white/grey Sambas or these Zara brown ones

Ive got a white/navy stripy top or brown and white cropped top

I think the brown and white cropped top is more 'now' than the navy/white stripe. The Zara trainers are 👍do you have some brown trousers or light coloured ones?

MsOtisReflects · 18/02/2026 16:34

Get some dark blue jeans or cords - so you’ll always have a co-ord outfit.

But I agree the brown options you’ve suggested sound good - so either some dork brown cords or a dark brown asymmetrical hem flouncy skirt.
