Light but warm/ dry coat - April - London - Ryanair flight

I am looking for a 'do everything' coat/ jacket.

I do need a new spring time coat, my current raincoat is 12yrs old and grubby.

A group of friends are all flying via Ryanair (tiny carry on) to London for a weekend mid April. I will need a coat that will be good for travelling, some day time 'activities' followed by going out that night.

I am more interested in being warm/ dry than stylish but if I could find something that ticked all boxes it would be great.

Any suggestions? I am 5'6 size 14 - £100 ish max £150 that I will wear forever.

No idea about the coat but it dosen't count as carry on or need to fit in the underseat bag.

I put the flight bit in to say that I couldn't bring a 'going out coat' along with the coat I'd be wearing.

Maybe a cropped trench coat? I bought a thin one from H&M last week but there were more substantial versions in Uniqlo and M&S.

Bumping - I’m looking for a similar sort of thing, I think.

A trench or cropped trench is a good idea but if it howls it down you need some sort of hat - and that’s where I always get stuck.

Protected Species raincoats. The city commuter one I think.

M&S have a waterproof coat with a hood.
Not fashionable but really practical. Navy or black. €130
They do a Jaegar brand one in black twill €210 but is more stylish
