Im off to a festival - I’m 50-5ft 4 and around a size 14/16. I’m bigger up top but have slim legs and bottom.
please help me find something to wear - I’ve looked and looked and looked and I can’t find anything suitable. I’m thinking more sparky trousers but what top? Jacket? Shoes ?

Is it a day thing or are you camping?

HopSpringsEternal · 15/02/2026 12:47

How many days? Which festival? In the UK? Will you be camping? Will you be up dancing til 4am or tucked up by midnight?

Goodwood? Glastonbury? Womad? Burning Man? Trnsmt? Download? Primavera? Coachella? Creamfields?
Give us a bit of a clue!

Boots or wellies. Cowboy boots are common there. Mix of sequins and comfies for day night. Maybe sequin joggers.

What time of the year is it?

CMOTDibbler · 15/02/2026 14:39

Well, fwiw, I’m 50+ and going to Download this year. I’ll wear Dr Martens, either compression leggings and a combat skirt or leather jeans (good in the rain), and a band t shirt with layers. Waterproof sun hat and a waterproof poncho as necessary. Forage belt bag.
But if you are doing something where you aren’t planning on being in a sweaty mosh pit, your style choices may vary….

Sturdy footwear and a dress. Easier to use portaloos!

MadameBethune · 15/02/2026 20:30

Start with really comfortable flat boots. The only exception would be if the weather has been dry and warm for weeks so there is no chance of mud. You will be walking miles and/or standing/dancing for hours.

Something rainproof/ sunproof for your top half and a hat.

A bum bag across the body.

Between the feet and the head you can wear absolutely anything! Women wear jeans, dresses of every length, skirts, joggers, shorts, pyjama trousers and onesies (perhaps more the youngsters).

If you fancy something sparkly as per your first post, this might be easier to achieve as a top? Not all festivals are sparkly though - for example a folk festival will tend to be more flowy dresses and t shirts, not many sequins at all.

I'm over 50 and a festival goer. If it's good weather it's denim shorts and DMs. With various layers as it always gets cooler in the evenings. If bad weather, shorts and wellies. Or leggings. And a big waterproof robe.

Which festival? Makes a difference
