Avd I have absolutely no clue what I want or where to look.

Went into a shop today and the swimsuit they had was £139. Lovely as it was I couldn’t justify paying that.

So where do I need to try. Somewhere hopefully where the gusset doesn’t resemble Dental Floss?

In my 70s, I now wear Tankinis with shorts for a bottom.

Freya, Fantasie and Pour Moi are my go to brands for swimwear but I need them to be cupsized which limits me a bit. If that's not an issue for you there are also Lands End and Boden which are expensive but have frequent discounts so you should never have to pay full price.

@SleafordSods

I’ve just bought a couple from www.zoggs.com (they also have an outlet)

Various styles and prices at www.landsend.co.uk

I’ve also seen some when I was in Asda a few days ago.

Hope this helps!

Yeah my boobs are hardly there so support for them isn’t really an issue…Grin

I have never gone wrong with a Boden one piece swimsuit. Whether I’ve been a size 16, 14 or 12 they are well made, flattering and last for ages (and I swim quite a lot). I’ve got my last couple from Vinted for half the price of brand new.

Willowskyblue · 14/02/2026 15:33

Halter necks are very flattering for our age group.
M and S had some lovely ones in today. Boden also have some. Some lovely new ones also on Vinted. None will cut you in half like cheese wire 😂

Me too my arms and legs are not at their best.

Lararoft · 14/02/2026 18:00

I’m 49 but I get my costumes from Next, some of them are really glam but supportive too. Up to £40.

Cally62 · 14/02/2026 18:27

I have some lovely biba swimsuits I’ve had for a few years, also fantasie that were £££ but last year I picked a lovely swimsuit up in Tesco for £20 I wore it all the time and it was great. There’s some lovely ones in Tesco atm. I do think buy cheap buy twice but if Tesco lasts a year I’m ok with that.

minnowonthesay · 15/02/2026 07:41

I like the H & M shaping swimwear, also Next and M & S. I find the wrap styles best, but I do like ones that I can wear strapless too for sun bathing.

I'm late 60s and wear tankinis with short style bottom, mine are from M&S, though if you are serious swimming you may want a proper swimsuit.

EstherGreenwood63 · 15/02/2026 08:22

Boden, M&S.

Madformaltesers · 15/02/2026 08:24

I am around your age I wear swim shorts and halter tops

Tillygan60 · 15/02/2026 08:44

I've bought a few " pour moi " brand swimsuits from " Next ", decent bum coverage and selection of body lengths too. Plenty of choice around £40.00 mark, I'm 60+ and have tried ( and rejected!) many other brands.

Purpl · 15/02/2026 10:15

M&S or cupshe online good quality be careful of discounts in case non refundable read at end of checkout. sizes are true to label.
its just a case of trying lots on to be honest.

anniepanniepears123 · 15/02/2026 10:18

Have a look on Temu
I am around the same age and I have got a couple of swimming costumes for less than £10 each and they a lovely on

lljkk · 15/02/2026 10:21

What is your actual body shape, OP?
You said small boobs, so I am thinking quite petite and definitely not overweight.

Which feature do you most want 'hidden', would it be tummy or leg cellulite or bingo wings or none of the above, just comfort and practical is fine.

I know ladies in their 70s-80s who are petite, swim daily in good weather, and wears suits like this, nothing special or hard to find. Go to a French or Spanish beach in summer and you'll see plenty of women age 60+ in bikinis or topless, bcz that's what they like. That includes plenty of fat ladies, too.

TU at sainsburys low leg swimsuits. Cover everything downstairs without looking obvious that you are trying to be discrete. Decent bust support as well. Im a 32g and swim twice a week and they hold everything in place.

SleafordSods · 14/02/2026 15:18

Are they ok gusset wise?

Lots of different styles, some of Next’s own make are mix and match tops and bottoms so you can get a tankini top with more coverage bottoms. I have shorts style bottoms in Navy and Black and co-ordinating tankini tops.

They also stock other makes.

Carrying a bit of weight around my tummy and yes I am fairly flat chested.

Are you actually looking for a swimsuit? I'm late 50s and wear bikinis from Boden and M and S for sun holidays.
