Non traditional wedding dress ideas

Hi all!
Im getting married in May. Its low key and I am looking for a non traditional wedding dress. I love this maya deluxe dress.

Before I order does anyone have experience of this dress or recommend similar (maxi) ?

I am 5 foot 10, size 18 and 57 for reference.

Am happy to pay up to £400 for the right dress

It's a lovely dress, but I wouldn't call it "low key". Maybe you need to give a bit of info about the type of venue so people can make suitable suggestions?

I'd agree the dress itself is not low-key - do you mean the wedding itself will be small & informal? But that you're happy to be sparkly?!!!

Do you want a pale colour & sequins/sparkles? This one is listed as "taupe". Some of the other colours are shown on plus-size models too, which is helpful. It's a pretty good shape for your height & size. Think I'd definitely have to truss myself up in big knicks etc in that as it's mesh - so would probably show your hair follicles!!!

If you're willing to go to around £400 though, I'd max that to get better quality, especially if sales are on? Have a look here, at the sales especially. Some of their full-price dresses are below £400 too.

If you do want pale & sequinned, this would be better quality. Out of stock in your size currently, but you could sign up for notifications or check stock in various stores?

Another one that I think is nicer than the Debenhams one. I'm actually around the same age, size & height as you, for what it's worth, & think both of these are a bit classier for that kind of look.

Not sequinned, but beautiful (mostly silk) vintage-style Rixo dresses that are very elegant. Several in your style & budget in creamy shades, but lots of other colours if you're not attached to pale shades.

Another possibility? I just think if you're doing sequins that it's better to keep it quite clean otherwise, rather than the original dress you were looking at, which I think is a bit fussy & not expensive-looking.

I bought a nice sparkly gold dress from everpretty for my wedding. And I’m so glad I did.

I spent under £90 on my dress and got parts altered. Seamstress didn’t charge wedding prices because it was a ball gown, really so alterations were also quite reasonable

Yes it's a lovely dress! I only posted a specific link to a sequinned one, as there are so many pretty ones - hence the general link posted as well for the OP to peruse at leisure!!

Platinum Halston ...! Love a 70s disco look ... I'd wear a sheer cape-type top over this if you want to cover your arms. (Avoid boleros at all costs!!!)

I wore a very similar Maya dress for my wedding. Mine wasn't sequins on the skirt part (but after seeing yours I wish it had!) I loved it and felt great in it as it was exactly what I wanted. My wedding was also very low key - during lockdown and only immediate family knew!

When I say low key, I mean no bridesmaids best man and registery office first but having 50 in day and 120 in night so I definitely want to go blingy!
