What length hair do I need for a low updo?

Getting married end of September 2026.
love these 2 messy low updos.
my hair is currently long, about 4 inches lower than the back of my bra.
It hasn’t been cut in a long time so thinking of having it cut but don’t want it to end up being too short for these styles.

what is the best length for this messy kind of style?

Congratulations on your wedding 👰They look lovely, I’d say those two have thick hair which is probably shoulder length, it’s a good idea to watch some tutorials which will show you what length the hair is before creating the style, also I think it’s always good to keep your ends trimmed, it won’t make your hair shorter if done regularly so that the growth overtakes the trims, it will just look nicer, are you able to go to a salon for some advice / practice do’s ?

Just get some clip in hair to bulk it up. Mine is just above my shoulders, but I can do these hair styles with a couple of clip in extensions, you can’t see them, just bulks it out.
