Swimming costume / larger bust

pouletvous · 04/02/2026 18:22

I love swimming and need a decent cossie. Im not huge, but am overweight and have large bust. Size 14 with FF cup

i need something practical that i can swim in 2/3 times a week that doesnt look obscene around the boobs

ideally with underwire or proper support

ive tried loads. Most of them come with a bra strap. I cant do those up by myself and I don’t want to get stuck asking for help from random naked ladies in the
locker rooms every time i go.

i bought one from Fantasie last year. It cost £80 pounds and now looks like a saggy bin liner

any suggestions?

Curvy Kate is good.

This is good for 🍈🍈 - lots of good reviews for Aquafit use and swimming. So easy to get on and off.

I had a few of these, the first one was great but the second one kept coming undone mid swim so it had to go. At the moment I’m favouring one by Zoggs that has an internal non wired bra thingy and no clasps or anything to do up as I really don’t get on with those. I’m a G cup size 12 and it passes muster for an aqua aerobics class. Got it off Amazon and it cost 38 quid, although as it’s Lycra they don’t last long unless you rinse them out really well before you stuff them in a bag to take home. My first one disintegrated after 18 months but subsequent ones have been better. I just hope they carry on making that design as I hate having to source a decent swimsuit. I wish they would make swimsuits for larger ladies in bri-nylon - Zoggs used to, I had one that lasted many years, but everything seems to be either Lycra, or it it’s bri-nylon they assume it’s being used by a flat chested athlete type.

Do not buy these ones if you have kids, I've bought two as they are lovely and fit well, but one session messing around in the pool with your kids wrecks the zip and it's bloody embarrassing walking back into the changing rooms with your K cups hanging loose as the zip breaks with one tug. It also wasn't that secure for doing lots of lengths of the pool either.

I know you said you didn't want the bra strap bit but I found that this one worked, it's very supportive, and was the only bra strap costume that I found that was easy to do up myself (and I am not flexible, I struggle with normal bras). https://www.bravissimo.com/products/premier-ultimate-performance-swimsuit-so118/#blueturquoise-so118bte

If anyone is interested, i tried Simply B magisculpt today

very very low cut. Too much cleavage on show for the pool

maybe if i was single and at an Ibiza beach bar

hopefully Decathlon comes through

I agree with those saying that if you swim often it’s not worth spending huge amounts on a costume. I don’t swim every day now but when I did I tended to buy the sports/training type costumes from Simply Swim on line
I have a double G cup and found that the chlorine resistant costumes with shelf support fitted me fine and that there was nothing to choose between the brands in terms of longevity and fit. If buying clothes I’m a pretty standard size 12 but with swimsuits I always sized up to a 14.

I'm a 34G and wear this one: https://www.speedo.com/women-s-racerback-zip-swimsuit-blue/16535764.html?utm_source=googleprod%2Cgoogle&utm_medium=cpc%2Ccpc&utm_campaign=gp_clothing%2CUK%20-%20Speedo%20-%20Shopping%20-%20Brand&affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP&utm_content=shoppng%20-%20All%20Products

The zip at the back takes getting used to. V secure (v supportive boob shelf), can forget all about it while doing lengths, and has held up well (I swim at least three times a week - but I do rinse it after every swim). Reasonably short in the body, which works for me (I'm 5'3").

Good luck in your search - a comfortable swimming costume is a thing of beauty!

Look at the speedo range on bravissimo. I’m a 32 GG and got a great underwired speedo costume on there with tummy control. Best spending on a decent one in my experience

LlynTegid · 07/02/2026 16:18

Hope you can find something OP and agree about the nature of some women's swimwear and lack of coverage.

Passenger42 · 08/02/2026 19:53

Bonmarche do some great swimsuits and tankinis for lager busted, reasonably priced also and wash well.

Queenage · 08/02/2026 19:59

I’m a GG and this is the best swimsuit I’ve ever had I'm thinking of buying this from Next - Brown Animal High Neck Tummy Control Shaping Swimsuit

AxolotlEars · 08/02/2026 20:53

Bravissimo...never regretted buying from there

TwinklySquid · 08/02/2026 22:26

Bravissimo would be first place to check.

Always worth looking at brastop as they have good reductions. I assume it's last year's stock but don't follow swimwear trends enough for that to make a difference!

This tankini is fab for big boobs and it’s half price at the moment which it rarely is. Don’t forget to order the bottoms as well.

They have a really good measuring guide on the website so you can get the correct size regardless of what you’ve been previously measured as

Here it is

Swim Flexi-Size Tankini - Black

Super supportive & comfortable swimwear, made with fuller busts in mind. Molke Flexi-Size tankini offers non-wired support along with fully adjustable straps, extended hook & eye fastening & a changeable neckline. Our classic black tankini is made from...

I also hate the bra strap styles and sadly Bravissimo are far too short in the body for me.

I really rate Next for one-pieces. They're the only thing I buy in Next! Partly because they do a decent tall range, but also the plunge style is really supportive with space for big boobs, despite not being underwired. There's a bit of cleavage yes but not obscene and the rest of the coverage is good, material feels sturdy etc. They usually do loads of colours.
