Help me find a summer wardrobe

I find summer casual clothes really hard.

I have good work clothes, a handful of decent dressy things for evening and I have shorts/jeans and t-shirts.

What I need is some smartish casual clothes, smarter than shorts and trainers, but still comfy and practical to wear for school run, shopping, days out etc.

If I had, say, £500 (got a birthday coming up and haven't had anything new for ages) to spend could you find me a capsule wardrobe? It needs to start with comfy shoes, as I walk everywhere and really can't get along with flip flop type shoes.

I'm 38, size 10/12, 5'7" and blond. Not very adventurous, mostly shop in Next or Debenhams. I'll try something different, but not to way out please, really wouldn't suit my personality.

a nice a line skirt like this can be worn with comfy flat sandals or converse trainer things.
Sling on a t shirt and cardigan and bingo.
