Help me accessorise this party dress

I have recently gained weight due to illness and have hated how I didn't have anything sparkly to wear to parties this year so when I saw this dress in the sales, I took a punt.

I am 55 years old (if that matters?), 5'2" size 20, naturally very busty and it fits! Hurrah! But what to wear with it?

I am thinking, NOT my everyday Sketchers trainers/Clarks walking shoes and my usual Kipling crossbody bag. See I'm not terribly stylish, these days anyway.

I can't manage heels or pointy toes and I feel the cold so will need a wrap or cardy to keep me cosy, as well as a suitable handbag to cart around my mobile, cards coins and a lipsalve.

Happy to spend up to £150 each on shoes and a bag as I feel they could be an investment in that if I don't wear them often, they could last years, but would prefer to spend less if I can.

Any ideas?

It’s a nice dress - I cannot imagine why you would want to murder it with a cardigan.

Are you intending it only for parties and Events? If so, it’s crying out for a furry jacket. (Someone on another thread found a very fine example on Vinted.) You could also try a V neck thermal vest beneath, if you need extra insulation.

At this time of year I’d accessorise it with very shiny black leather knee high boots.
