J Lewis- 'only deliverable from our stores' - not click and collect - why?

Does anyone ( an insider?) know what's going on?
I understand that some very low stock items (sale) may only be in a store and not a warehouse but it's happening more and more.

I wanted to order some make up (I'll now do it directly with the brand) but why is JL not able to?

I hate this! Next can manage it - there may be a delay of a few days while they move the item to the store you want to collect from - but JL can’t/don’t/won’t.

It must be down to one of the following:

• it costs them too much to transport the item to your chosen store
• it’s not environmentally friendly to transport the item to your chosen store
• they don’t have the infrastructure to transport the item to your chosen store
• all of the above!

Probably staffing.

With click and collect there has to be a staff member to deal with it whenever you show up. If it’s delivered they can handle all the orders at once.

No it's not that.
Loads of their stock is available through C&C at their Waitrose stores. Mine is always busy with C&C and fully staffed.

It's seems very random.
eg with this brand of make up, you can order foundation for C&C but not a concealer.
you can order some of the Laneige skincare but not others.

It's very odd.

So why can they transport a Bobbi Brown foundation, blusher etc but not a stick of concealer?
