Denim dress/cord dress

Haven't really worn these before.

Are they nice to wear?
Are they too hot to be practical?
Is it better to wear something under?
Are they soft/flexible? I can imagine some denim for example might be a bit stiff. I don't really enjoy wearing something that feels like it's wearing me iykwim
Are they even in style or hopelessly dated?

Obviously I don't need to buy one but I'm wondering if I'm missing out!

Hope these questions aren’t too daft

I have several.
My cord dresses are all fairly lightweight, flexible baby cord. I have rejected dresses where the cord is too thick/stiff/heavy. Sometimes I wear a T shirt underneath. Sainsbury’s used to be excellent for cord dresses & trousers.

I have a really well cut, long (mid calf) length denim dress which I love, it’s very comfortable, but too heavy for summer. I always wear a T shirt underneath, so I don’t have to wash it every time I wear it.

I have both, some stiffer and some softer. I love a cord anything so they are my favourite but I have a lovely denim sleeveless pinafore style which is really loose and floaty and feels like wearing nothing. The other denim dresses I have are slightly thicker and more structured. Again with the cord ones I have some more structured and ‘stiffer’ but I still always layer with thermals underneath when I can because I’m permanently cold and could be wearing 12 layers and still feel a chill!

I have 2 lovely cord pinafore dresses from Nobody’s Child. I always get asked where they’re from when I wear them.

They’re currently annoyingly bargainous in the sale.

I’ve got lots of denim ones from Scamp and Dude and Oliver Bonas and Asda! Cord, mainly jumpsuits rather than dresses again from Oliver Bonas. Can often pick them up in the sales.
Usually for short or 3/4 sleeves and could be either above knee or ankle length and can pop T-shirts or thin long sleeve tops underneath if needed or a cardi over the top!

Thanks for the replies and for answering my questions 😊

I second Sainsbury’s for their cord pinafores. I wear them with a turtleneck underneath in winter and don’t wear them in summer. You can pick them up second hand/never worn on Vinted. Think I have them in pink, olive/green and a v dark purple.

I have 2, one dark navy and the other washed black. I love them, so easy to wear in all but the warmest days of summer. The denim is substantial but soft. Mine are from Toast, so their version of a high round neck and sleeveless. I wore one today with a cardigan.
