Recommend me a foundation that looks natural

I’m in my 40’s with often dry peri-menopausal skin.
I’ve just started a decent (read expensive) 3 step skincare routine, so hopefully that should improve.
I’d love to start wearing a natural looking makeup that doesn’t just cake on top of the skin… is there such a thing as a foundation that more soaks in? In between my eyebrows and my nose are a more redder tone, but also the driest area, so I struggle to cover it. I currently rarely wear any makeup, so don’t want anything too obvious or heavy.

Check out erborian cc cream - it’s a game changer.
They have an anti redness option too.
The reviews say it all!

I am loving the L’Oréal True Match nice and glowy also like Elf soft glam satin foundation both lovely . In the summer I wear L’Oréal Lumi Glotion almost like a tinted moisturiser. All of these are good prices. Have tried loads of top end Esther Lauder, Nars etc and these are just as good

Purplecatshopaholic · 24/01/2026 16:30

Came on to say Erborian CC cream as well. Awesome stuff. Sort of part skin care, part make up, it’s got some spf in it too. There’s a green anti-redness one, and a purple anti-dullness one as well. All great.

WhereAreWeNow · 24/01/2026 16:32

I like Erborian. I use the BB cream (I think slightly thicker than the CC?) and I also recommend the green one. It's good for evening out redness without looking like foundation.

myotheraccountsa · 24/01/2026 17:31

Also came to say Erborian!

user593 · 24/01/2026 20:14

Erborian CC or Lisa Eldridge Skin Enhancing Tint. I like the Erborian a lot and it’s very easy to use but it doesn’t have the same oomph as the LE. I’m also early 40s.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/01/2026 20:28

I’ve just started using Laura Geller Baked Balance & Brighten powder Foundation - looks really natural & is made for mature skin.

Another vote for LE skin tint

I had a make up lesson recently. The make up artist had lots of expensive foundations, but said L'Oréal true match was her favourite. I have bought some myself and ts perfect for my skin and I also have the eborian cc for lighter coverage days

TalulahJP · 25/01/2026 11:28

laura geller balance and brighten for me too. i thought powder hell no, but they sell it at qvc uk so 60 day trial and all your money back if you don’t want to keep it so you only lose the cost of postage both ways. so i tried it and kept going with it.

Ive not tried balance and glow which is similar so don’t get confused with the names!

ive sent stuff back to them multiple times for a full refund, as it doesn’t fit or was the wrong colour or texture or whatever. even half used. never any issues. they are legit. sky channel 660 or online or an app.

Overtheatlantic · 25/01/2026 11:33

I just started using Lisa Eldridge skin tint and it’s fabulous. Sheer coverage, makes my menopausal skin look great.

SiobahnRoy · 25/01/2026 11:38

L'Oreal True Match Nude Plumping Tinted Serum is the best I’ve tried, at a great price point, but the Lisa Eldridge is on my list next time I’m in town.

cheeseonsofa · 25/01/2026 11:40

Do you need a full coverage foundation?
They can look mask like and cakey as you get older.
Lighter formulations with serum are much more modern

I personally prefer a lighter touch as I've got older
Either Erborian BB
Or Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Skin Tint

The Bobbi Brown is my current favourite, gives a beautiful glowy finish and smells amazing

Another vote for LE skin tint

And another, I’m also early 40s

BeaLola · 25/01/2026 13:16

Lisa Eldridge - really impressed by the foundation and the tinted moisturiser - I was matched when I visited a pop up they had a couple of years ago in Covent Garden and was glad I did as I would hornet have gone for the shade I'm matched with but it is perfect (disclaimer: I'm crap at make up and matching shades for myself)

Before Christmas I visited the LE stand in Liberty's and staff there ,despite how busy it was, were super helpful .

GameOfJones · 25/01/2026 13:17

Yet another vote for Erborian. I think lighter coverage is a fresher and more modern look.

LaddersAndLadders · 27/01/2026 12:05

Essence tinted moisturiser. Vegan, cheap as chips, can be worn on its own or mixed with moisturiser for even less coverage or used as a concealer only. Contains spf. Love it.

Lionnam · 30/01/2026 07:38

I started using Milk Makep hydro gel tint a few months ago.
i find it really good, light coverage but buildable and nicely moisturising.
I’m 47.

GrethaGreen · 30/01/2026 07:41

I like Trinny London. Thinks it gives a fresh glowy look.

Changingplace · 30/01/2026 08:01

I’ve been using No 7 serum foundation recently and really rate it, I’ve used much more expensive ones in the past and picked it up on a whim and honestly it’s great.

CissOff · 30/01/2026 08:05

I’m early 40s with dry skin.

I use Illiyoon ceramide moisturiser and then Estée Lauder futurist hydra rescue. It’s the best combination for me I’ve ever found. The moisturiser is a complete game changer for me.

Recommend me a foundation that looks natural

Meant to say I’m 48 and my skin is so much drier these days, this one is definitely worth a try and it’s very reasonably priced.

Like others I like Erborian cc cream and L'Oréal true match foundation - one or the other or both, depending on how made up I want to look. I also bought the L'Oréal true match serum recently and love that too. The key thing though is finding the perfect colour for you - this is why I use L'oreal, bought it many years ago and although most of my makeup & skincare is more high end now, I've never found a better colour match. I am planning to try out Lisa Eldridge next though, based on recommendations from here.

namechange0998776554799000 · 30/01/2026 08:34

Oh also, if you want to cover the red areas, Erborian cc red correct is excellent

jesushkrist · 30/01/2026 08:35

I use Erborian CC cream and the BB cream for a bit more coverage. I don’t think I’ll wear foundation ever again. I just don’t like the look of it.
