Help me choose a diamond ring

I want to treat myself to a diamond ring.

Budget up to £1k.

For third finger of right hand.

Everything I've seen looks like a wedding/engagement ring. I got rid of both those a few years ago and no desire to replace!

The most expensive piece of jewellery I currently own cost me £80, so I really need to be sure I like it before I splurge.

Any pointers for style please?

Would love to know what you’re looking for! I know I’ve mentioned this before but there’s a FB page with absolutely loads of 2nd hand stock. You can just tell them what sort of thing you’re after and they send photos. I’m glad you’ve taken your time - very exciting!

Thank you, but I don't want to buy online. I want to see things in the flesh.

Yes, that’s fair enough. More of an event. I’d love to see what you get!

Brighton is good @Globules or obviously Hatton Garden, I live near Berkhamsted and there’s a couple of old fashioned independent jewellers that have lovely second hand jewellery, St Albans is the same with maybe 4 too, so 8 independent jewellers about a 20 mins drive from one another? Good parking in both places

Thank you.

I live close to Brighton and my many experiences there tell me everything is overpriced, as they cater for well to do Londoners.

I also know St Albans very well. And have the same view on their pricing...

I might have to suck it up and do a Hatton Garden trip. Or appreciate that the limited shops in my town are likely to be priced more reasonably, as everything else here is!

I think I’d be tempted to go with 20 £50 notes strapped to my person and try to do a deal, as my old Dad used to say, cash is King!

Most places won't take £50 notes though they idea of going in with a wedge of cash appeals . Show Me The Money Grin

We (DD and I) wandered through the Argyle Arcade in Glasgow , spent some lovely time peering in the windows and going into the shops when she decided what she wanted .

Go in, try some on, take a photo of the ring on your hand (and shop+price ) then say you are browsing and will make your mind up . They might offer you a discount but you are free to walk away .
