Options wedding dress for under £300?

I'm looking for a cheap wedding dress! I will be wearing it for a maximum of 4 hours so I don't want to spend anymore than £300 ideally. I'm aware since I'm petite and 5ft the alterations are most likely going to cost an arm and a leg....

The problem is I found a dress when my budget was higher, it's a beautiful A-line sweetheart dress, low back and blush. Exactly what I wanted. Now looking at any alternatives like prom/bridesmaid dresses just don't compare. I've seen on Etsy there are lots of independent dress makers that sell the exact type I'm after in my budget. It even includes custom measurements so hopefully an additional tailor won't be needed. My question is has anyone bought from these places? It seems very questionable that it's so cheap for what it is and there are no refunds accepted, so it will be a gamble. I won't have money for a plan b..... However they do have really good reviews that include photos which helps with the genuineness of it.

The exact sellers I'm looking at are lace bridal and vickymermaidbridal.

Thanks!

Can’t comment on Etsy but have you looked at Monsoon? Their wedding dresses are beautiful and should suit your budget. Ghost has some gems too, though that’s maybe more chance.
A friend of mine bought her dress from one of the Oxfam wedding dress shops. It was lovely and very reasonable.

I also can’t comment on Etsy but I also recommend checking out Monsoon. I ended up getting my Monsoon dress from Ebay (new with tags) and it was absolutely lovely and exactly what I wanted at an incredible price.

I got mine from JJs House. I was sceptical, but it was great quality and while I fitted the standard measurements they will also make to your measurements. I'd definitely recommend.

Have you tried googling your dream dress?
I tried on my dream dress at a bridal boutique; it was £ 1,500. I googled it, and it turns out an American company made it. I was able to order directly from them, with shipping via an aunt who lived in the States. Including delivery, it cost me £400

I got mines on Shein for £40. I eloped & didnt have a party or anything afterwards.
I ordered 6 dresses of different styles and then just sent them back.

I got so many compliments on my dress too!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, I have tried private boutiques, David's bridal, JJ house, wed2be, second hand shop in sevenoaks, I've looked at sale and off the peg as well. Monsoon/John Lewis/Debenhams. Chi chi London, stillwhite UK and eBay.

I think because the style I'm looking for is so particular and it's not white, I'm having a hard time finding anything close it in my budget.

I'll include a pic of the dress I'm referring to off Etsy for reference.

This is the dress from lace bridal. It cost 300, which if it is anything like the pics will be a dream! It just seems too good to be true price wise...I don't understand why it is so cheap

It’s very pretty. I’ve never used those shops but as the fabric is all synthetic that is not inherently expensive, workers will be paid less than here, and there are no rental and staff costs for a physical shop. So I would not assume it is a scam.

I paid a similar price for mine but second hand off ebay. It was pure silk which I wanted, and had a corset back so the fit was very flexible.

LaurieFairyCake · 23/01/2026 23:20

There are so many lovely pink wedding dresses on eBay, loads new

I got mine second hand on Still White - if you scour you can often find amazing bargains

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 23/01/2026 23:22

Monsoon or phase 8

Or vinted and a great seamstress

CraftyGin · 23/01/2026 23:23

My DIL got her dress last year from Monsoon for a very modest price. It was beautiful.

I didn't realise Monsoon was still open.

I got married 10 years ago so I don’t know what prices would be like now but I bought my dress from an outlet wedding dress shop. It was a past season dress (but you wouldn’t know!) and was £240. Are there any shops like that near you?
