If you own a cashmere wrap…

Do you find it useful? Do you feel you get enough use out of it to warrant the cost?
Currently looking to get a cashmere wrap, but was wondering how much use people actually got out of them before investing? Have a long haul flight coming up and I’ve got it into my head I need one!!

I have a few and love them. They are light, yet warm.

When I travelled I always took at least one. They worked on the plane, if the aircon was too high for my comfort, they worked on the days and evenings where a wind was blowing. When I didn't need them, they were so light they could be easily founded into a bag.

Now I'm too old and frail to travel, I love them because they are so light, so I don't feel weighed down. They work when I'm sat reading in my living room, and when I'm sat up in bed, perusing mumsnet.

And when I'm taken out for lunch, they look elegant draped over my shoulders. Well, as elegant as I can manage 😁

Yes, have had one for over 20 years, still lovely, doubles as blanket for travelling. Light, warm and defo recommend. Treat yourself!

Look after it and a good one will last for years. Very occasional cold hand wash, roll in a towel to squeeze out water and dry flat.

Sorry to hijack - Can anyone recommend a brand or share a link to a nice one please ?

Have a couple, quite thick. Love them, use them a lot - just about the house, flights, take to our chilly cinema. I’d say one of them in particular is my lowest cost per use item.

Mine are Travelwraps.

Are we talking real cashmere wraps, or pashminas?

Cashmere wraps here (although have cashmere/silk pashminas too).

Well I'm talking about cashmere wraps. Thought I'd better qualify.

Whenindoubthugitout · 15/01/2026 19:43

I have a couple, Brora is my go to for cashmere, I have had a couple of real bargains from Vinted

CarrieMoonbeams · 15/01/2026 19:44

I've got one, it was brilliant for my last big holiday.

When I'm on a flight, I can only ever sleep if I'm leaned forward with my arms on the tiny table, so I put it over my shoulders and gathered the rest of it on my arms and snuggled into it. I'm pretty sure I didn't look elegant but I don't care.

It was also really useful when out and about on holiday because I could drape it over my shoulders if I felt like I was burning, and even used it like a sarong/cover-up type of thing after the beach.

TeaMeBasil · 15/01/2026 19:45

I have a few and swear by them - work as scarves, wraps, and blankets for travelling (or freezing cinemas!) wouldn’t be without them. I like hush and white company

Ruthietuthie · 15/01/2026 19:49

I have several and use them a lot, either on planes, when the air-conditioning is unexpectedly colder, or just to have around my shoulders while I read. Mine are from Falconeri and the quality is wonderful. I also have some that I bought in Kashmir and Mongolia which are also really wonderful, but less easy to source.

Gertrudejekyll23 · 15/01/2026 19:52

Thank you so much! All these positive comments have cemented the deal. An early birthday present to myself 🙂

Yes, Woolovers button down ponchos are my go to .. poncho or wrap, blanket or scarf, all in one.

Onemorechristmas · 16/01/2026 11:54

Do be careful about moths. When you’re not wearing it best to store it with some moth repellent, specially in the summer months when you don’t wear it at all

LaurieFairyCake · 16/01/2026 12:27

Brora ponchos, I’ve got one in every colour
