My DS1 lives in Adelaide (married an Aussie :) ) and we are over for a fortnight.
I've been twice before, first time the weather wasn't great so jeans were fine. Last time , summer but I just spent the whole time in shorts.
However I'm 58, fairly tall and skinny and my lily white legs look like old dough. I know I need some cover ups because last time I fried even covered in sun screen.
And it's the wrong time of year to buy summer clothes here!

I want something floaty and a bit smarter that I can wear at the beach or out for a meal, or to the Adelaide Fringe... not fancy just nicer than shorts! I prefer trousers but have no idea what to put with what. I'm sure I can get clothes out there, but I'd just like some ideas please!

Ballet flats.
dark thongs.

Just go to Kmart when you get here. They currently have a great range of wide leg linen pants in multiple colours. They’ll take you anywhere paired with a t shirt, singlet etc, I have to take mine up a couple of inches so will be fine if you’re tall. About 13 quid.

You’ll also find linen midi dresses that will cover your legs.

And long sleeved linen shirts for cover up.

I'd go for linen wide legged trousers either full length or 3/4 length. and loose fitting (but tailored) tops. Jacqui E is a good shop to look out for once you arrive. More expensive than KMart but better quality. Good selection of trousers and tops. Likely to still be fairly warm at times during the day but you might need extra layers for mornings/evenings.

Next seem to advertising some summer clothes, so you might able to pick up a few things there.

For me, I always feel more put together in wide leg (linen for summer, if you don't mind the crease) trousers and (plain, not patterned) maxi-skirts. I also like a lightweight loose denim shirt to throw over the top or a loose linen shirt

Kmart is life. Definitely just go & pick up a few items. Weather can change quickly though so still bring a jacket. And umbrella.
