My skincare is burning my eyes

For the last few days the skin around my eyes has been unbearably sensitive, and burns when I apply any skincare, even really gentle things like an aveeno oat moisturiser.

I introduced a retinol about two weeks ago which I use every three days. I thought I was being careful to avoid the eye area but is that the likely reason? I am also terribly sleep deprived at the moment which can't be helping.

Any recs for an incredibly gentle and soothing g eye cream? I've stopped the retinol for now.

I had a flare up the other day with retinoids. My eyes looked like they had been punched swollen, they were flaky. I knew it was the tretinoin because I had been lazy and just reintroduced it and applied too much without adding enough moisturiser and vaseline around my mouth and eyes I also had put on Vitamin C serum earlier, whoops.

I applied sudocrem to my face generously for the next couple of days and it healed, but yeah I highly recommend using vaseline around your eyes, mouth and nose and checking other skincare isn't reacting with it.
