What footwear with this dress?

W&B dress

Birthday party in London in February.

Don’t want to wear shoes that will hurt my feet as I want to dance so don’t want super high heels, but don’t think flats will work so maybe mid height block heels or wedges?

Leaning towards bare legs (fake tanned). Venue is indoor.

Or I could wear something else.

5’4, size 12, white, blonde hair brown eyes, age 38.

Thank you!

I’d do black fishnets and patent Mary Janes

GRCP · 11/01/2026 15:11

Excited at the prospect that you think flats would work - silver pointed toe or Mary Jane’s could be it!
I like the ankle books but think a skinny heel would hurt me - I live in trainers 7 days a week!

The classic Paula Babies?

I have some shoes like this but cheap version from New Look. I agree they’d look good with that dress. First poster’s response first link are perfect too.

Isometimeswonder · 11/01/2026 17:08

I got some pointed flats from next just before Xmas.

GRCP · 11/01/2026 17:15

I’ve actually got some pointed black flats, I will try them with the dress when it arrives and if they both look good I might go for some like those suggested with a big bow, they look good.

Also got my eye on some patent block heel Mary Jane’s on Vinted but worried it’ll all end up a bit Wednesday Addams…

Sheer black tights and black heeled ankle boots- or yes to something block heeled and strappy in which case either the sheer black tights or maybe nude fishnet ones. I definitely would want tights in February.

Dollos · 11/01/2026 18:13

I’d go black tights with black knee boots of some description

I saw the new look ones - they were very similar to the Paula babies.
I liked the first poster’s choice too. The ones with the bows would look great.

Mary Jane shoes or the first ones suggested on here.

If the flats don't look right Esska is often a good shout for comfy heels and currently has a sale

FlappicusSmith · 12/01/2026 18:28

Esska all the way. Their heels are insanely comfortable. I don't wear heels at all any more and find them crippling, but bought a pair of Esska's for a recent party and was on the dance floor all night and my feet were fine. Totally worth the investment. They do lovely flats too

If you’ve got black flats already… you can buy clip on shoe bows from Amazon. They come in both embellished or plain versions.

I have some & they are actually brilliant!

GRCP · 13/01/2026 15:40

@MarshmallowsOnToastwhat a great idea!
@Catsandfluffybanketsthank you, I really like the gold ones

I'd definitely go bare legged. If the party's indoors in London, you should be fine, assuming you're not walking halfway across the city to get there.

stargirl27 · 13/01/2026 17:00

I would defo do knee boots with bare legs or thin black tights

SwirlyShirly · 13/01/2026 17:03

That’s very nice and exactly what I was after for Xmas day!! Never mind. Nude rights with black velvet low heeled sling backs I think.
