Outfit for 50th birthday (not mine)

it’s not a super formal 50th, ie I think some other guests will be in jeans, but I’d like to make an effort. It’s a London bar type of location.

however my only ‘going out’ clothes are a few sparky dresses I’d wear at Christmas or day dress type things for summer. So I need some inspiration and advice as I need to buy something new.

I’m a size 8 with a hourglass figure so I tend not to wear androgynous or oversized outfits, and I do love dresses.

I generally veer towards being slightly over dressed rather than under dressed but also don’t want to look like my fashion sense died in 2008.

my budget maxes out around £150 ish.

I'm the same size/sound a similar body shape and wore this to a wedding recently, got a lot of compliments! You can rent it fairly cheaply if you aren't going to wear it again (I'd suggest looking at renting a dress in any event)

No wonder the models all look so desperately unhappy.

i would look at Vinted, brands like Maje, Tory Burch, Prada - I’m a similar size and have got some amazing dresses lately (and lots of compliments). You may have money left for a (new) Sezane cardigan (lots of fake Sezane on Vinted) and that’s your outfit sorted.

Maje you would be size 1, Prada 40/42 depending how busty
