How long do wide-leg trousers or jeans need to be?

To look fashionable?Do they need to touch the floor? Or is it ok if they cover all the sock, half the shoe but there is an inch or so between the bottom of the trouser & the floor?

(I’m talking about full length trousers, not ones that are supposed to be cropped)

Skimming floor, or no more than 1-2cm off ground. If wearing trainers, cover majority of laces

I agree, they need to be as long as is practical. Flapping around the ankles looks terrible.
