Looking for a coat I saw someone wearing today.

Saw a lady wearing a lovely, cosy looking parka today. It wasn’t for long though, so my recollection is patchy. It was a navy one, with a stripe of two/three colours (orange, white and ? maybe) running down the middle of the back. It had a cream fleece-looking lining in the hood and the coat itself and I think where the lining met the zip there was a bit that was the same orange as the back stripe.

Any help would be appreciated, I have tried to Google but nothing is coming up. It really did look cosy!

There’s one on Boden only available in 20. If it’s the one you could image search.

See my PP
There’s a size 12 on Next

Thanks guys, that one looks nice but this one definitely had multiple colours in the stripe. For some reason it made me think of Passenger but it’s not that either. I’m kicking myself I didn’t just ask the lady, was worried she’d not like that so didn’t.

Boden have been putting stripey trims down the back of their coats for several years, maybe it’s an old style?

WeCanAskandAsk · 10/01/2026 19:36

Might be worth checking out Vinted.

NuffSaidSam · 10/01/2026 19:40

Brakeburn do stuff like that (cosy and stripy), maybe from there?

Zanatdy · 10/01/2026 19:41

In future just take a sneaky pic and reverse image search it. I do that when I see nice bags on the tube as looking for a new work bag.

madaboutpurple · 10/01/2026 22:02

I would add that I have always found people can be very helpful when I ask about their clothes .I reckon people are pleased so will give details out.

SabrinaCarpetCleaner · 10/01/2026 22:30

Possibly an older style of this. As pp's have said, it sounds like a Boden style.

I’m also going with an older Boden style. I’ve had a long puffer and mid length parka with stripes (3 I think) down the back, round the cuffs and by the zips.

They do come up on Vinted.

I bought a wooly type parka from Boden about 8 years ago, it fell apart in a month. It was almost comical, all the stitching came undone, the filling came out, pockets fell off. Obviously got a refund but not bought a thing from them since, don't trust their clothes. I hope it's not a boden coat OP!!

Wow! Most of my clothes have been from Boden and I don’t think I’ve ever had an issue (other than some of their ballet flats causing blisters).

They did go off piste a few years ago but I’ve just bought a fab pair of jeans that rival those I had from them over a decade ago.

If we all liked the same thing though, life would be boring, would it? 🙂

SlimShandy · 11/01/2026 09:53

The description of the orange stripe made me think of Scamp & Dude straight away.

inmyera · 11/01/2026 10:00

@SlimShandy I thought scamp & dude as well

FionaP1959 · 11/01/2026 12:45

Just for future it would probably be very nice and flattering if you had asked the lady in the coat. i.e. "where did you get that lovely coat from?"

EconomyClassRockstar · 13/01/2026 01:43

To give Boden their credit, I ordered a skirt from them recently and they sent me the UK size instead of the US size. They literally refunded me instantly, told me to send the skirt back when I get round to it and sent me a new one. I was really impressed with their customer service.

They do have bad production runs sometimes and, because they procure via short production runs at overseas factories, they can't pull back once an error is identified in a particular product. If they lose customers over it, that's on Boden.

One of my favourite coats is a Boden number that I bought for £30 down from £150 over 10y ago because the lovely buttons had fallen off for most customers, within a few days of wearing them. Once the reviews made that clear, and the price was slashed accordingly, those of us who wanted it got a bargain that was easily solved with a needle and a reel of good quality thread.

I don't trust Boden jeans any longer, even though I have some that have held up for over 15 yrs occasional wear. Because once I tried on an infamous pair of Boden skinnies with a very very very droopy extended crotch, I never recovered the confidence to try again! 😂

Someone once crossed a busy road to ask me where I got my coat from, and I am still delighted years later!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 13/01/2026 14:44

I saw a lovely parka over Christmas and had the ability to ask the lady where it was from and it was Seasalt.

Yes I saw one of these on vinted this week. Boden. Exactly as described in the OP

HawthornFairy · 15/01/2026 09:10

I do usually quite happily compliment people on clothing/accessories/ask where they are from, so I don’t know why I hesitated in this moment.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think it’s Boden, I’ll check Vinted. I love every Boden jumper I’ve had, and their children’s clothes are great.

I love being asked about my clothes and never neen rebuffed asking random women about theirs. Hope you find it OP.

Platypuslover · 18/01/2026 20:05

It may have been handmade. Plenty of people see these days.
