Anyone got a minute?
I'm going to this thing tonight in a posh club in Mayfair.
It's a book launch for a close friend, but it's not a 'straight after work for a swift vino'. 8pm start apparently loads of celebs, glamour models etc. I just know I'll choose the wrong thing to wear and look crap and feel old and past it all night.
Any advice around?
Thanks ever so.....

WHat shape are you, and what options do you have (I assume no time to go out and buy something).

nailpolish · 12/06/2008 15:45

a plain black shift dress with very high heels and some fabulous earrings? oversize clutch and lots of eye make up

Carmenere · 12/06/2008 15:45

Is he a Gigolo?

harpsichordcarrier · 12/06/2008 15:46

are you going to go and buy something
what shops are near you?

mellyonion · 12/06/2008 15:47

little black dress???

sounds fab and very posh! have an ace time!

stuffitllama · 12/06/2008 15:49

lbd with wild shoes and accessories -- am with nailpolish
if you are overdone you can stuff the extras in your handbag

MissingMyHeels · 12/06/2008 15:50

Second the LBD suggestion.

Yes, it's that Gigolo's book launch tonight isn't it, are you one of his laydeees?

welshmum · 12/06/2008 15:57

Heavens no! (to the gigolo question)
Not going to buy anything as haven't time but was trying to decide between new maxi dress which is kind of funky with some interesting jewellery for a sort of quirky look or the classic black dress, high heels combo.....
It's a kind of 'do I try (and fail) to compete or do my own mad thing' question....

maxi dress I reckon. why not?
in this situation I would probably go for wide leg trousers and funky top, but my legs aren't that great!

welshmum · 12/06/2008 16:06

I think that's what I'm tending towards harpsi, what are the best shoes with a maxi?

Wedges? Or funky flats if you're tall, but is it going to be raining? Hope you're taxiing it...

JackieNo · 12/06/2008 16:08

Actually ignore the funky flats - too daytimey.

welshmum · 12/06/2008 16:10
