A perfume that smells like talc and palma violets and clean?

I havent worn perfume in over 25 years. I've been trying to find a nice, clean (and affordable) fragrance. Nothing that people can smell in the lift after you've left it!

But everything seems so overly perfumy or strong. Or just fussy somehow.

Apparently Philosophy would have been a good bet but nowhere seems to sell it and looking at reviews they've changed the fragrances now anyway.

Any ideas?

The last time I wore perfume was Sunflowers (I wouldnt wear that now). I was a bit generous with the spray. I went for a picnic with "friends" but had to leave because I was being harassed by bees! They literally followed me in a line as I walked away. My friends turned out not to be friends and told everyone it was flies because I stank. I never lived that down.

Prada iris is the one I always re-buy.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Black - it’s beautiful, powdery and violet, but costs about £45. I’m sure there are dupes or cheaper similar scents.

L’eau d’issey solar violet is a clean Parma violets smell

Watching with interest. Refreshing to aim for clean smelling scents instead of the flood of sickly sweet cloying scents that seem to have flooded the market.

Perfect by Marc Jacobs smells a lot like parma violets and isnt too strong.

Is one of my favourites, has similar notes to the glossier one people have mentioned so be interested to have a look at the primark dupe!

Saltworks do a Violet scented perfume called Violet Dew, which I tend to wear but also supercharge the violet scent with a Parma Violet dog fragrance which lovely and soapy smelling.

Insolence is the best Parma violet perfume but it's expensive and there aren't any good dupes of most of the Guerlain fragrances. You could get that and use a tiny amount?

Love YSL Paris as well but I'd have said that was more powdery rose than violet (although I've only tried it once).

My nephew always says I smell of Parma violets when I wear YSL Paris EDP.

What is the primark dupe called please?

Fresh and light try:

Estee Lauder Beautiful Sheer is lovely, light and very clean and fresh smelling.

Gucci Envy Woman - a very fresh light scent but quiet citrusy

Calvin Klein Contradiction - I love this and have been buying and wearing it on and off for years. It has a talcy clean quality to it whilst also smelling fresh yet sophisticated.

Ralph Lauren Ralph - again fresh clean and light smelling.

Escada - I think it’s called paradise and if I remember correctly it’s got a strong vibe of Parma violet.

Have to disagree, I love insolence but I'd never describe it as fresh and talcy, I only wear it on the odd evening out as I think it's very heavily scented

Insolence by Guerlain is the most beautiful powdery violet. Its my signature scent (hate that phrase, mind) and I can't tell you the number of compliments I get.

However, conscious that you said you wanted a light scent and Insolence is basically beast mode. You can smell it a mile away, even when used very sparingly.

It’s Skin Scents One to One.
The bottle has the red cap like the Glossier one.
I think they have dupes for all 3 Glossier perfumes but I haven’t tried the others to know if they’re any good.

When I think of powdery and parma violets I think of Kenzo Flower.

YSL Paris is a good shout too, it's lovely.
