bra fitting ....

i think i am wearing the wrong size bra. i think the back is too big. i think places are determined to fit me in a 32 back cos that's the smallest they do. it doesn't exactly feel loose but i can pull it quite away from my back. are la senza or john lewis any good?

I think it depends very much on the indvidual bra fitter. I would try a couple of places - I'm sure La Senza and JL would be fine, but you might also try M&S and even (horrors) Agent Provocateur and compare the advice you get.

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 11:53

NOT M&S. Many places do 30 inch back sizes now (I'm a 30G). John Lewis would be better than La Senza, but the best places IME are Bravissimo and Rigby and Peller. Or a good independent shop if you have one.

MrsBadger · 12/06/2008 11:55

La Senza are rubbish IME, and the only 30 back they have are A cup.
JL much better as they stock a wide range of brands, not just their own label stuff (which is the problem at M&S). Debenhams are quite good too for the same reason.
Just go to Bravissimo - they start at a 28 back.

MrsB - have you been fitted at la senza then? what size did they think you were and what are you?

I haven't been fitted there but have been v disappointed with the range / qulaity of their stuff

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 12/06/2008 12:16

john lewis are good at bra fitting - UNLESS you are below 32. i was swimming in the 32 ds john lewis foisted upon me until i went to an independent shop and got measured properly 30e. i bought one expensive bra cos i felt oblidged and now buy them on ebay.

another warning - watch out for your shape. i am an e but have small norks so can't wear bras with full cups iykwim.

do it, it is lovely to have bras that give you a proper shape.

nappyaddict · 12/06/2008 12:32

i have just measured my back with the tape measure and if i pull it tightish i am 30. if i breathe out as much as i can i am just under a 31. do they still do the add on however many inches thing?

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 12:36

if they do, RUN. The back size should fit your back, not your back plus however many inches.

PortAndLemon · 12/06/2008 12:40

Here is useful advice on finding the right size. It sounds as though going down to a 30 back and up one cup size may be the right thing for you.

mazzystar · 12/06/2008 12:40

John Lewis are great
Its not just about getting measured, but also trying on different styles for the right fit. There is a sternish spanish lady with a slightly bossy tone at our local JL and she is a bra-fitting genius

EleanoraBuntingCupcake · 12/06/2008 13:37

the johnlewis near me does not stock anything below 32 so if you are smaller than that you are a screwed

Rocky12 · 18/06/2008 17:49

Once you have your correct size (I'm a 30F) figleaves online are good. Always have loads of stock.
