Going shopping - what shall I buy?

Okay ladies I have been feeling a bit down lately, fat and frumpy. I have a free afternoon sans kids on Friday and am off to get my hair cut. Can also fit in a little shopping. So - what things should I buy? I am overweight and trying to lose it (slowly) so don't want to spend too much, just a few key things to update my wardrobe a bit and give me a few more options than my usual jeans and t-shirt combo. I am thinking casualish, daytime sort of clothes. I live in the country so nothing too "towny". I am 40, a size 16, large of nork and with upper arm paranioa but quite good legs however I have some varicose veins (god I sound a real stunner don't I lol!) so prefer long skirts/trousers. Thank you oh style gurus. Oh by the way the budget is about 100 to 150 quid.

A haircut and a spot of shopping sounds like the perfect day!

Is white too "towny"?
I did some clothes shopping today and found a great pair of wide leg white linen trousers in M&S which were only £15.

I also found a pair of tan coloured cork heeled wedges in New Look which are surprisingly easy to walk in and were only £20. Lots of other colours there too.

Monsoon are great for pretty summer tops.
This one is a lovely colour and has sleeves but is probably a little too dressy for the school run.

Not sure if Primark is worth your time for tops if you're not keen on showing your upper arms as most of the tops and dresses have little cap sleeves or are strappy but there's a great choice of jeans in various colours and the bags and accessories are v. cheap.

Let us know what you buy.

Hi there - thanks, I love that top - have a rare girly night out tomorrow and that would be perfect. The cork wedges sound good too.

I can't wait - my in laws are arriving at lunchtime to look after DD2 and the minute they arrive, I'm out the door!
