Tops!! What the Jeff can I wear?!

Stuck in a rut with tops at the mo. Years ago I was wedded to a Breton, but unless I can find the right boxy shape I tend to avoid them now. I have a denim shirt but it feels a bit dated now. I have a couple of nice thickish t-shirts, and some soft ancient sweatshirts (mainly Hush) that I love. I also have a tan cashmere crew cardigan (La Redoute) that I wear quite a bit, and a couple of chunkyish jumpers (Seasalt, John Lewis) for winter. But what are you all wearing as default tops?!

Similar to you! Have added knitted tank tops to the collection - Joules have some lovely ones in their sale.

I do have a knitted tank top actually @Nix32 but I never know what to wear it over 😳

I love a Henley as I find them flattering in the neck and shoulders.

Long sleeve t-shirts mostly. I have got a patterned shirt with a soft collar, but will probably keep the collar tucked in.

I really struggle with tops and always have done. At this time of year, I'm pretty much wedded to black merino turtlenecks.

I have a love-hate relationship with anything high-necked, @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie. I have biggish boobs and I think too much fabric between them and my chin isn't always good (despite wistfully hoping I might look like a chic European academic in them).

@Nix32 I do have a couple of long-sleeved thinnish slim-fit tops I could wear under tank tops but I'll inevitably get too hot, want to take off the tank, and be left in a slightly faded old Sainsbury's thermal 😳

I have some oversized linen-blend summer shirts and tried one under a cardigan, leaving lots out at the bottom and cuffs on show - quite liked that look with dark barrel legs. I also have a lovely flecked forest-green cashmere crew neck jumper that gets a lot of wear, and a couple of nice t-shirts. It's the in-between times that I struggle with - when I know it won't be that cold or warm and I need to sit on the fence sartorially, as it were.

I've ordered a couple more plain t-shirts in the JL sale, have also seen a Boden jersey shirt-adjacent top that I quite like but WHY is it so hard?!

What kind of silk cotton blouses do you mean please @PaquitaSalas? I do like a cashmere crew neck but I get so bloomin hot!

I think my most-useful top weight I'd a sort of slightly heavyweight Breton type level of warmth. That kind of weight does me for spring/autumn, and can be layered for winter. It just feels a bit bleurgh to me now.

I buy silk cotton blouses from Me and Em (mainly in the sale) @DiamandaTheGreat. They are very comfortable to wear and wash really well.

Thanks @PaquitaSalas - I quite like those and would wear them I fi still worked in an office, but I WFH now and they're too formal/dressy for me for everyday wear really. I used to love a Boden silk shirt for workwear though! Actually I do have a nice printed silk shirt from Hush that I should wear more often.
