Style and beautyish aims for 2026 and lessons learnt in 2025

Very frivolous. I know many people will have more serious goals for 2026, but just for some fun.

My lessons learnt are:

  • I do not suit a very short pixie cut 😒. It is taking ages to grow out
  • I shouldn't have washed my hand-wash only wool sweater in the machine, even on a wool cycle. It has bobbled. In fact, I'm avoiding any hand-wash only things entirely next year.

Aims for 2026:

  • make a style uniform I can stick to. Sick of making decisions about what to wear all the time
  • quit alcohol, as it makes my rosacea bad
  • stay off vinted! I have had a few purchases from there which just don't fit properly. If I'd bought them first hand, I would have returned them

My lessons learned are: stay ON vinted. I've had some amazing bargains this year. Anything that doesn't fit or suit i sell on.

Glad you're enjoying it @IDontHateRainbows! I have for many years, but I'm not anymore

There’s nothing frivolous about how we look. It’s the first thing anyone uses to assess your state of mind and body - and in times past and present how you appear at first glance might save your life.

That said, I can’t help feeling your determination to find a style uniform might be foolhardy. Surely your wardrobe evolves as you, and your experience of the world evolve?

Lessons learnt:

I still can’t wear grey, since I stopped colouring my hair.

Never, ever, ever hold on to a new pair of shoes that are just a tiny bit tight.

I mind more about the things that got away because I was too cautious than I appreciate the £££ saved (and then probably frittered away on nonsense).

Goals:

Sort out hair dilemma.

Have more fun with jewellery.

Trust my instincts even more.

In my head, I'm going to have a style uniform the way Anna Wintour did, rather than Steve Jobs or Mark Zuckerburg. But I do find I flit between dresses and trousers, so I may indeed be on a hiding to nothing! I would definitely like to apply it to my work wardrobe anyway. I work in a slightly more formal office environment, but I also run around a lot at work and also do the school run on foot on the way to work so need something practical.

Beauty: there will always be another sale/discount, there is no scarcity.

Clothes: lose weight and rediscover what I already own.

Stop with the shopping habit!
