Combatting the impact of menopause without HRT

LeafyMcLeafFace · 14/12/2025 09:27

I can’t use HRT for medical reasons and in the last few months have noticed jowls, weight gain and meno belly.

What can I do?!

do I need to take collagen?
start doing more exercise?
survive on water and all bran?

😭

I can’t take hrt. I can’t take collagen either.
I do take magnesium, vitamin d and k, biotin and some other supplements. I avoid anything that says it’s for menopause or women’s health - eg, I don’t want things like sage. Exercise is good, particularly strength training.

I've been on hrt for years and still have jowls, weight gain and meno belly 😭

I take creatine and noticed this has helped hugely with energy levels. I need to re-start a strength training class as I stopped doing it at home and I was getting good results from the classes.

Nothing keeps the weight off or helps with the meno belly though - I've sort of given into it 🤷‍♀️

Vaginal estrogen

bizkittt · 14/12/2025 10:22

It’s just aging. The alternative is not ideal.

Thanks everyone, some useful suggestions there. I find strength training really boring, so perhaps yoga or Pilates and introduce some weights.

Not sure if vaginal oestrogen would be allowed (it’s a meds contraindication thing.
