My favourite foundation has been discontinued

I’ve been using YSL Touché Eclat for years
It’s been discontinued so I thought I’d order the new formula in the same shade but the shades and numbers have all changed.
The online share finder doesn’t work for me and I really don’t want to spend £40 on the wrong colour.
online chat just sent me to the shade finder feature.
We live very rurally so no chance of finding a store.

Any bright ideas for olive, dry, aging skin?

I can’t help you but maybe it would help if you said which colour you used before it was discontinued. Good luck! 😉

FlippityFlippityFlop · 13/12/2025 07:58

Same here! It was my favorite. I'm very disappointed.

MidnightPatrol · 13/12/2025 08:10

I’d send them an email.

I had a favourite Estee Lauder foundation that was discontinued, and I simply tried different brands and then found something that I felt was better. I get you live rurally, but at some point you’ll find yourself in a big city and you should try what else YSL have to offer, or brand equivalents like Chanel. Chanel Les Beiges is absolutely beautiful and looks very silky on the skin.

I’m a recent convert to Charlotte Tilbury. Would suggest you look at this range.

TeenagersAngst · 13/12/2025 08:42

Just call their customer services. This happened to me with a Bare Minerals product and they shade matched me over the phone when I told them what old shade I was using.

ThePoshUns · 13/12/2025 08:51

You can sometimes get discontinued make up on eBay

MuddyClump · 13/12/2025 09:51

Thanks for the replies
My current shade is B50 which suits my yellowy skin tone

I used the online chat function who directed me to the shade finder or suggested three different shades. It’s too pricey to make a mistake.

It took me so long to find the right foundation and it was you helpful lot that helped me find Touche Eclat about 6 years ago.

MAC have done the same so I need to find a new foundation . Changed the formula and all the colours. They’ve got tons of bad reviews now.

PodMom · 13/12/2025 09:55

yes, email them or wait for some beauty influencer to do a YouTube video comparing the old shades to the new shades. Because even if you buy a new foundation it could be the wrong shade? Or maybe take a trip to your nearest city in the new year? Make a day of it? (Is this where you tell me you live on Shetland) 😀

anyway I do like boots hydralouminous if you want something cheaper in the interim?

MuddyClump · 13/12/2025 17:34

A bit risky but Look Fantastic has a colour match test so I’ve gone with it.
Potentially too dark for this time of year but if so it’ll have to be a summer foundation
Will report back when it arrives.

They have a chart that shows the new shades vs the old shades in stores. Worth calling a store to see if they can put you on the phone with a sales rep? Although saying that I found the formulation completely different so decided to switch from Touché eclair even though they found my shade

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 14/12/2025 08:19

I’m still livid about EL Double Wear Light. It was brilliant and they replaced it with Sheer which is AWFUL.

TheOGCCL · 14/12/2025 10:42

Yes came on to recommend findation.com but I also find it useful when people blog or vlog about make up and show swatches of the colours in photos or videos.

YenSon · 14/12/2025 12:21

Go to John Lewis or Boots and ask to try it?

Edit: Just noticed you live rurally and cannot delete my comment!

MuddyClump · 16/12/2025 20:06

Reporting back now I’ve received my YSL All Hours Glow Foundation

The colour match is good (thanks to Look Fantastic , not YSL) and after first use I’d say it’s very similar to Touche Eclat. It’s glowy not overly shiny and no longer lasting.
Possibly emperors new clothes but good for mature, dry skin.

I'm still mourning the Barbara Daly makeup range that Tesco used to sell. The foundation in Porcelain was the best match I ever had Sad
